Hello! This is coming from devout Christians who truly love the Lord Jesus Christ and are active in ministry and are pressing toward the mark of Jesus Christ! My oldest daughter is very talented in music! She is active in the youth choir, loves to praise dance, and can really keep a rythm! We are going to sign her up for dance classes again - she has taken a little tap and ballet already. We want her to be versatile in all types of dance since we can tell it is a gift. Now we do not listen to hip hop music, watch videos or anything of that nature, and we wouldn't want her to be in music videos or anything like that. But we've discussed letting her take dance classes teaching hip hop dance because it's a fun style and would help versatility. What are your thoughts?

I think her taking hip hop classes would make her more versitle. I would suggest talking to her about the lyrics the songs may have. I think having hip hop along with tap and ballet, would help her get farther if she wants dance as a career.

You should definitely let her take the class. Not all hip hop music is bad. She needs the classes to be diverse enough for when she decides to be a professional dancer, even if she just wants to get a dance scholarship for college.

Hip Hop dance is very useful for dancers because it teaches them how to move in different ways. If a dancer can pick up on hip hop then usually they can pick on any other type of dance. It really is a good idea to let her do it. It doesn't mean that she will become a back up dancer for 50 cent or anything. She will probably be really good at it though.
