Well, not the real devil. We know a young couple who are nice enough but kinda goofy. They tend to stick around longer than we'd like sometimes. The guy used to be our neighbor, and they stop by every so often. A few days ago my husband remarked that we hadn't seen them for a while. I told him I saw them at the grocery every so often. Then he said we'd better stop talking about them or they'd show up. Well, sure enough they stopped by yesterday because they were having lawn mower problems, and they know hubby is good at fixing them. Luckily I had dinner almost ready so I had a good excuse to cut their visit short.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them stopping by and I think the guy kinda looks up to my husband. Sometimes they just stay too long and we're too polite to tell them to get lost! The Bible says that by welcoming visitors we may be entertaining angels unaware, so I try to be kind. I'm even nice to the annoying salespeople that stop by. Not taking any chances!

Overstaying your welcome is a real problem and I may have been guilty of it at one time or another. It is good that I don't have too many friends and the friends that I have don't have to leave if they want to stay longer, I enjoy them anyway.
