Who is your all time favourite guitar player?

I want to find out who is peoples all time favourite guitar player. Tell me who they are, their best songs and what it is you like so much about them.
My all time favourite guitar player is a man called Paul Gilbert, formally of an 80s band called Mr Big. I personally think that he is a flawless player and love the way he shreds. I think that his best work is Addicted to that rush (Mr Big) and Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy (Mr Big).

Michael Angelo Batio and Vito Bratta.... Michael Angelo plays w/ quad guitars! who else in the world could have done that... ambidextrous playing style... i'm telling you folks batio is a guitar god

yeah ive seen hime play some stuff with the two guitars joined at the middle, pretty amazing stuff really and he makes it look so easily. Do u like players such as Vai and Satriani?

It would have to be Duane Allman, who inspired me to start playing back in 1974. Randy Rhoads would be a favorite, too. As far as guitar players who are alive, I would have to say Edge of U2. I really like the way he gives color and texture to the songs.

Paul Gilbert is amazing. I can't pick an all time favorite player. My favorite player seems to be changing according to my mood, as each player is unique. If I am in a romantic mood I like Joe Satriani's ballads. If I am airy I like Steve Vai. There are tons of expressive guys out there: Andy Timmons, Michael Romeo, Michael Lee Firkins... One of my recent discoveries is Mattias IA Eklundh. He plays in the band Freak Kitchen and he's like CRAZY! :) Let's not forget Ron Thal aka Bumblefoot. And Jeff Kollman. And George Lynch! The list goes on...

Angus Young. He is the epitome of what a guitar player should be. Every guitarist should have their own unique style without having to copy some of the greats. There's nothing wrong with trying to be like your idol, but should always put yourself first while playing a song. The best song that captures his style is the solo in Moneytalks. Brilliant song.
