its true and that's what i'm doing right now lol but i let the owner know that i'm using his wifi. if you want your wifi to be more secured, just put a restriction on it and put a password so that anyone who can see your wifi can't connect to it easily

Like Stated there is no perfect system but you can take some prevention measures. first set mac address filtering, you can do this while hooked to the wireless router. make sure you program your MAC addresses before activating it. Also make sure you have your security set. I have wireless security set I am using WEP with a very strong password for the security 4 charters passwords are weak, 30 character passwords are strong.

I believe it is safe as long as you know how to keep your network secure but for me I always opted for wired connection especially when doing some transaction since it is stable lolz.

Eventhough it's not hackproof, you can make it safer... Even if you're hooked to landline, being that it's hooked to the internet, they can get into your system... I guess only way to be hackproof is not to be hooked on line... More difficult you make it, more bothersome it becomes to get into, less likely it is to be broken into...

Potentially it could be hacked, but there is less of a chance if you use WPA and mac filtering (wpa should be fine alone but if you want to be extra secure, do mac filtering). Do not choose WEP though as that is insecure and can be hacked easily.

I don't think so but for a security enabled wifi access it can be hacked.

My wireless router is a Lynksys and offers the option to create a secure wireless network, and then as such requires a password and username to be able to log into the network. I have not had any problems with it and have had it up and running for over a year now.

All my connections are wired and I never had to consider security at all but since the prices of wi-fi hardware has gone down dramatically I have been thinking of using wireless lan. I need to study the security issues first.
