rankings in topics?

Ok i just returned here after a few months absence. I know what the ratings are wit the stars and such. But as i have come back and i have replied to discussions the last couple days. I have seen this ranking after the start and tells me i am some number out of something ranked in a discussion. I searched the help here with no luck. Can someone exlplain. Also i see after being gone along time the pay is the same here its still about 1-2 cents a post.
