Materialism - for the poor and rich?

I suppose we can all say that we enjoy new things - a tricket here and there. Perhaps our favorite video game or a new shirt. Ya' know, the little things in life. I'm only 17, I hold my own job, and my parents cover my school products and tuition fees (I'll be a senior next school year taking almost all college courses). Am I a materialistic person for going out with my friends to the mall and to restarautns to eat in my free time? I don't often buy lavishing items (with an exception to the Wii and Ipod) but otherwise I've earned my money well. So is it materialism to enjoy the money I make...?

I know I love new things, for me it is mostly clothes that I like to get new also music to listen to. I am the same way with my son, I pay for things like his food and other expensises. He has a part time job and usues it to pay for his wants and also I make himm put some away in savings.
