My Computer Has Slowdown

Recently I have upgraded my free edition of AVG Anti-Virus 7.5 program to AVG 8 (still a free edition). I have noticed that after my upgrading my CPU usage has gone up from about 20 to 30% to almost 100% consistently. It's almost impossible to surf the web or use the computer. I have no choice but to disable the AVG program. Have anyone who has upgraded to AVG 8 (free edition) experience similar problem? steveniam http://www.tipsforfastweightloss.com

I did have problems with this when I first upgraded. What I discovered is that while in the old version you could keep things in the archive on the AVG display, with the upgrade it gets filed somewhere on the computer. I discovered an entire folder with hundreds of logs from AVG. After I got rid of them, my computer was faster again.

How do you do that? Can you show the step by step procedures as I am not tech savvy? steveniam http://www.tipsforfastweightloss.com

Hi steveniam, One thing you can do is install Process Lasso: http://www.bitsum.com/files/pssetup.zip This program automatically restrains programs when they start hogging CPU cycles. If you would like to replace AVG with something better, and you can tell me a little about your PC's specs, I could make some recommendations for you.

This slowness seemed to happen to me also. It was as if it didn't download properly. I uninstalled 7.5 and downloaded 8 and it worked much better. I'm not sure what the problem was.
