There are a lot of viruses and trogan horses that attack people's computers.
And there are a lot of anti virus softwares that are supposed to work against them...
What free or low cost anti virus softwares do you like to use?
I am using AVG and it appears to be a good anti virus software.... What do you use?

If you spend a lot of money on a computer you want to keep it safe. Especially if you surf a lot you will need to be protected. A good firewall, spamfilter and anti-virus are important. Have a look at my profile. There is a free virus scan on offer there. That way you can find out if your pc has any bad stuff in it.

Yes. Your personal computer needs all that protection service. You can log onto www.symantec.com. And then you can look up Norton 360. That is what I do have for my pc. This is the best protection. Mine is good for the overall two years.

I used to have AVG as my anti-virus before. It is good actually and quite a high percentage in catching viruses and other malwares. Right now, I'm using Kaspersky. I find it much lighter on my system. It has very good scanning capabilities and more often than not, can handle most spy/malware on my pc which are removed completely.

Unfortunately it isn't free. It's not that expensive though. Check out www.kaspersky.com. It's one of the good ones out there. There's a free trial on their website. Try it.

I think that they were a little sneaky there... they had a way for you to continue having the free service but did try to get you to purchase the service from them.

I have been using AVG for quite some time. Although it is free to use for single computer still very effective against the viruses, worms and spywares. Chances of catching a virus are very high, provided you regularly update the software. This is a true virus scan engine.
Recently I tried the Avira antivirus. This is also a good software with very good virus scanning capabilities. Its also free for personal use.
I know there are many anti-virus softwares that it is difficult to choose the right-one. I recommend you to use the Avira/AVG softwares, if you want to use free software. If you can invest something for your computer protection then purchase the NORTON or the MCAFEE. They are real value for money.
I think combining AVG/AVIRA and a good firewall will be a win-win situation. The perfect firewall you can use is the Zonealarm. The best and free firewall available on net.

The zone alarm is a good one...
I wonder if my old computer can manage to run the AVIRA and AVG combination as the AVG tends to make it slow down a whole lot.

I would use Avast, because it is free, and it found viruses on my computer that the anti-virus software that i was paying for couldn't. I was really impressed.

The fact that it is low on memory usage sounds good. Thanks for sharing about it.

I used to use Symantec. However, currently I am using Adaware and Zonealarm for firewall protection. These come for free.
Thanks.

For me and my personal computer, I use Norton 360 from Symantec. That is the best anti-virus software. Well, more than that. It was expensive at first. It is good for the overall two years. I wonder what anti-virus software you use.
