I learnt that a strong earthquake had hit philippines early this morning,(01/06/2008) measuring about 6.4 on the Richter scale. From the news i read that the quake had epicenter-ed around Batan Islands. I have some good friends here from philippines, and i don't know, how far are they from the quake affected area. I presume that they are safe, and i pray god for the safety of those affected also.

Hi, I'm from the Philippines. Thanks for you concern. I saw the news awhile ago. It's really far from where I am staying. It's the main island of Batanes which is in the North of Luzon. I pray that no one was hurt.

Thank you for your concern, I never heard of that news until I read your post. The place is very far from where I live, and just hope that no one gets hurt. Our country has been struck not just by natural calamities but so many issues on food, politics, hunger, massacres and abuse to children. I wish this would end in due time.

Yea..you are correct, if the natural calamities like earthquake rock the country once in a while, the man made disturbances do have a great impact on the human life style. Good to hear that you are safe Take care.

Earthquakes or natural disasters for that matter are always nerve wrecking experiences. I find myself so fortunate to be living in Singapore where we are free from natural disasters. The worst we have is maybe flash floods or haze from forest fires elsewhere.
