Hi everyone,
I went out golfing for the day yesterday and made a major mistake. I did not put enough sunblock on my face. I have a really bad burn and even my lips are starting to bubble! (gross) Does anyone have any treatment suggestions. I have put on some cream but not much seems to be working.
cheers,

Hi there Golf Pro!
When I get sunburn, I apply petroleum jelly on it.

You're welcome. Don't forget to put on sunblock next time around. I recommend Coppertone. It has SPF 50.

I would seek medical attention for your lips, it sounds like you may have some sun poisoning. Try some vitamin e on your face. I would not go with the petroleum jelly it is think and heavy and will keep the heat in. Whenever I got a sunburn my dad would tell me to take a shower as hot as I possibly can stand it to open the poors and release the heat. This has always made sense to me so I pass it along.

My best advice is an aloe vera based lotion/gel (I prefer gel) and keep it from drying up completely by applying often. This is one area where you don't want to go cheap either, go for a really good lotion/gel. I am one who is very prone to sunburn and after trying so many different products, it was aloe vera that has always brought the most comfort and led to the least amount of peeling. Solarcaine (the spray pain relief) is pretty good for instant, short-term relief too. Avoid hot showers (at least on your face)as those will sting for the next several days, heck even cold showers will sting, but hot will just feel the worst. I hope it heals quickly for you with as little pain as possible.

The two best things I have found for burns are emu oil and castor oil (not together).
The emu oil tends to be expensive but the oil soothes the pain and eliminates much of the redness (or is that "reddness?).
The castor oil is much more economical but is also very effective in relieving the pain and reducine the redness.
