The Harry Potter Series.. Whats your opinion on it?

These are the things I would like to say about the series..
I consider it a read-it-once-before-you-die book-series.
My favorite ones are The Deathly Hallows and The Goblet of Fire(both of them clash!!).
To me, its always the book that's better, not the movie.. Based, on the verbal description of characters, I picture them in my mind and when the movie comes out, I am forced to change the mental picture of the character to that of the portraying actor..
I don't understand why some people loathe the series so much.. Its mostly because, they haven't read a single book and just refuse to do so, trying to stand out of the rest!!
So what do you say about the series? I'm sure most of you might have read it..
P.S. Just in case you didn't know.. The 7th movie will come out as two parts.. One in 2010 and the next in 2011..

The books are great, but after the fourth book, it's just gotten worse. In fact, the last book was the worst one out of all for me. And the movies also started to decline too, when they changed directors. It was sad that the original Dumbeldore had past away, but the new one was weird and all hyped up.
I just don't think Harry Potter lives up to it's hype anymore.

I love the books, love the movies, and would probably have continued reading if she had written a hundred books in the series. I enjoy the movies but I much rather read the books because of all the detail in the books. I read somewhere that the last movie is going to be in two parts so they don't have to do away with a lot of the detail. It will match the book better than the other movies have. I can't wait for the rest of the movies to come out.

When i first years ago saw the book i had to read it and then the second one and so forth..then the movies cam and they were good, but i do rather read since i can picture the actors and the scenes better and there is more to the books in details they leave out in the movies.
I didn't know that about movie 7 being made in 2 parts..wonder why? maybe to continue making money i guess.

Yeah.. Maybe its the financial intentions that causes them to split the movie in two.. Also the 7th year involves a lot of adventures and stuffing them in one movie might make it run for five hours!! The countless cgi scenes would mean an extremely high budget.. And if the people don't like it, it would be a big loss..
So I guess you a kinda right.. They are playing safe..

Hello, , I like harry potter series, and it was one of my favorite and the books series I ever anticipated whenever it release a new book. It has a really nice plot, intriguing and exciting until the last book. Well, for me, it was kinda anti-climatic, I like it but I think that some are predictable and I was kinda disappointed on it. But overall, I think that harry potter was one of the best book I ever read. The movies are also good, they did a good job on making it. I am always excited whenever the movies are released. Like now, I really anticipated movie 6. Yeah, I heard the news about making the movie 7 into two parts. Well, for me, I don't know if it's good idea. But I'll wait and see for it.

I'm really glad they are making number 7 two books. Otherwise I think that they would have to leave too many of the juicy details out. There's all the horcruxes to destroy, and I think all of those scenes will be great. Then there's all of dumbledore's background to get through. Then the whole setup of how Harry winds up beating Malfoy and getting his wand, thus the Elder wand. Just too much stuff that would be a shame if it were left out. It would end up being like the World Quidditch scene in movie 4.

Okay i admit it i have never read these books and have no intention of reading them. This type of book is just not my cup of tea. You are right about the book usually being better that the movie, not only do you have to change the way you see a character but a lot of the time the movie has nothing in common with the book except the characters names. This is very disappointing.

When you say it isn't your cup of tea, it is like a kid refusing to eat something delicious just because its veggie or looks horrible..
So this is what I would say to you: Just try two sips and then ponder over whether you would like the whole cup or not!!
Enjoy

I have loved the series since I first started reading it. I love the books and movies, but the books are better just because they have so much more information to understand everything that's going on. I always have to explain a little in the movies to my husband who hasn't read the books.
Now that you've read all seven books, its actually cool to go back and re-read the series to see all the things in the first books that JK put in there that you didn't even realize were important to the story until the end.

Most series use the same characters but are just those characters having another adventure or something. It's rare to have a whole series of books like this that really tell one big story. But then she divides them up into school years and they kind of stand on their own too. I think it was brilliant. I guess Star Wars is kind of the same and I liked it for the same reason. Harry Potter has more intricate details than Star Wars though.

I dragged hubby to see the movie in a real theater back when the series first became a rage and can you believe he fell asleep during the flying game with the whizzing thing. Oh my! He doesn't think it is evil, just boring. I love to read that sort of thing, but have not made time to read more than a couple of them. There must be several hundrerd thousand good movies I haven't seen yet either. Good thing we are retired.
No, people who are intolerant of this sort of thing, I agree, lead a rather narrow life. If they don't like it they don't have to read it, but calling those who do bad names is uncalled for. If someone's mind is already made up that there are monsters lurking in every shadow, however, they will see monsters whether or not there are any.
Yes, in 99.9% of cases the book is far better than the movie, even when the movie is spectacular.
