Whats the butt showing about?

I have just been on holiday to Turkey and although I have seen guys in the UK who have their jeans with the crotch hanging on their thighs and showing the cracks in their backsides or showing the labelled underwear. It became must more obvious in a foreign country to see western men walking around wearing their jeans this way. The natives were very bemused and asked me why on earth they would think it looked ok to wear their clothes this way.
Other than some glib remarks about , being show offs, and following fashion, I realised that I did not know why men dressed this way. So any ides on this would be great and thanks in advance.

I don't like that and i thing wearing jeans shouing butt is making trouble for themselves. Few people in my country wear like that.

See what you don't like is not so good,but maybe long time later you will get used to seeing that.:)

I have no idea why guys like to do this and I honestly don't see the point. I've always wondered how they can walk around normally with their pants around their knees in public. I have to agree that this is one of the stupidest fashion trends out there. It doesn't make the guy look cool, I think they look stupid trying to waddle around and prevent their pants from falling any further down.

I don't know what its about, but I hate it. I see it all the time working in the mall. Their pants are below their hips and most of the time they have to hold them up with one hand and can barely walk. I think its ridiculous and one of the worst fashion statements to date.
