Cramped, yo - small room

My boyfriend and I just moved out of our apartment and are now living in separate places. He moved into a house with some of his friends and somehow got stuck with the tiny room. By tiny I mean he can fit a twin bed, a desk, and a dresser, and that's it... no room to walk around or anything, really. I used to live in an apartment and had a small room. I hated it. My closet was so tiny... I think small rooms are harder to keep clean... Have you ever had a small room like this? Doesn't it suck? Or did you like it?

I always had a pretty small bedroom whilst living at home, but it was never much of a big deal, mainly because I only really used it to sleep in. It does sound like your boyfriend has a bit of a raw deal though, at least I could walk around a little in my room! I think smaller rooms are harder to keep clean, mainly because it's really difficult to move the furniture to clean under or around it. It might be an idea to think about getting a three-quarter bed in his room (do you have those where you are? We do in the UK), or attaching storage above the bed onto the walls to free up a little floor space. Failing that, he needs to spread his stuff out in the living room!

Is a three-quarter bed like a loft where you put the bed above and have room underneath? We thought of that but his ceilings are slanted so he can't really do that lol.

i know exactly what you are talking about it really isn't that enjoyable for me to have a small room because it's like you can't even walk around because when you put the smallest things in there it's already crowded, so that's not good at all when you can't even more or put all that you want to put in there...i really hope that the things work out wiht you two so he can have a bigger and better room...good luck in the future!

He wanted to live there... he calls it his "boat room" because it has wood paneling. That place is horrible... it has a slanted ceiling too which makes it feel so much smaller. Luckily my room is huge and of course he gets to visit... lol.

It would suck. I would hate it. Small spaces stifle me.

My boys share a small room. They hate it and they make sure everyone else in the house hates it. We are going to rip the closet out and get them both loft beds (the kind with the closet built under the bed) to free up some space. Barring that i'm taking my mom and moving out!

Yep i know what you mean. The room i'm in now is pretty small there is barely enough room for all my stuff. I have my bed, my computer desk, my entertainment center and my dresser in here and i couldn't fit anything else in here if i had to.

that hardly qualifies as a room. I have a bigger bathroom at home!

I never had to live in a small room like this, BUT, if something were to happen to this house and we had to rebuild, we have actually been looking at what is called a huge storage building with a full loft and a ladder to get to it inside. It's huge as a whole but we just might go that route and live in that instead. All we would have to do is partition off a corner for a small bathroom with a shower but no tub. Kitchen in another corner, fireplace in 3rd corner with limited furniture. We would sleep in the loft which actually has 5' sidewalls. Comes with a covered porch as well. Very efficient living! We both love it as well as our daughter.

I once almost moved into a house where my "room" was really little more than a closet or a walk-in pantry. Luckily I ended up not moving in there. :) But when I was in college and would come home in the summers, I moved into the basement at my parent's house. But since my brother had taken my old room in the basement, I ended up in a tiny little space that only had two walls, and just enough room for my mattress (on the floor) and a couple of shelves. My dresser had to be in the hallway, and the rest of my clothes hung up in the laundry room! I wouldn't ever do that again. :)
