IS AN AUTHOR IMPORTANT to you, or the STORY OF THE BOOK?

So you are fond of reading. And have read a lot of books. But do you actually care about the authors or what matters most is the story or the plot of the books that an author writes? I think, if someone is a best and well known author, that will be totally a good edge for them cause people get more interested in reading their books. I couldn't agree more to that. I'm no bookworm myself, but I like to read, and when I start reading, I couldn't take off my eyes to the book until I finish it. What important to me is the story and the imagination made by an author to his/her book. And a good one.

i don't really think that the author is that important to me personally because there have been some books that i have read and i didn't even know the author...for me personally as long as the story is good and can keep me entertained i don't really care who writes the book...but thats just me though...i know that i have heard a few people say that they don't like authors because they don't like the way that they write books!

hi smooch. yes i do care about the authors of the books i purchase. i usually get books written by clive cussler, mario puzo, or john maxwell. of course i have books by other authors but i alwys ask for the books of these authors first when i go to a bookstore. i've always bought hard bound clive cussler books. even though there are copies of his books, i wouldn't get these if these aren't hard-bound. i guess that's just me being way too picky. lol!!!

Interview with the vampire - Interview with a vampire is one of Anne Rice best selling books connected with the Vampire Chronicles.
It really depends. When I read a book it depends on the text of the book if it is interesting to read for me..Mostly I like the book when it takes me away to a new world..Mostly when the book does this to me I look again for the same author to see if the other books are same as the one I read. I like Anne Rice..Her books are life like to read. I really enjoy it.

well like many, i too prefer story to author. grins meaning that i usually look at the stories or rather, the synopsis or reviews first. if it seems interesting, then i'll borrow it even if i don't recognise the author. but i am also a fan of some authors as well. thus, i usually look for their books first to borrow. if i can't find any or find those that i've already read, then i look at the stories.

In general I look at the stories first. If it's something that appeals to me I will buy or borrow the book. Quite often I have taken a liking to certain authors and then deliberately look for other books by the same author. So yeah, initially it's the story that interests me.

To me, absolutely the story itself attract me most.I am a person who is addicted in reading intresting and new stories .Many times when I finished a book,I even have no idea about who writes it.I may be suprised by the writer's syory ,but I never judge a book by the fame of the writer.

Generally, it's the story that attracts me to a book as well as the reviews. But, if I have enjoyed an author's work in the past, I will probably pick up another one of their books in the future. But, I have found that some authors will turn 180 degrees from whatever it was that I liked in their first book when they write their other books. In that case, I don't pick up any more of their work.

The story is more important to me than author. When I buy a book I pay attention to its plot. But of course I have some favourite authors and always buy their books.

hello, , well, basically the story is more important to me. For me, I'll read first the summary if it's quite interesting and being made by my favorite authors just add to make me buy and read it. I totally agree with you that being made by a popular author has add an interesting aspect on it.

I love to try out new authors. I like to test out new styles, new characters, and new content. A few years ago, I started a bunch of books by a 'new' author and it turned out that it was just the pen name of one of my favorites! I do have a handful of authors that are my favorites, and those are the books that I tend to look for when I go to sales, the library, or order. I know I like their style, their content, and that makes them my first 'go-tos'.

Saying that I love to read is an understatement. But, what matters most to me is what the book is about. If I like the story, then I check out the author and find out other books that he/she has made and try to read those books, because I know that I will most probably like the other stories that they have written. But, if I can't find anything else that the author has written, often because it is sold out, then I just settle for a book with a good plot/summary.

The author plays some role in whether I read a book or not, but a good story is equally if not more important to me.

I like a few authors and consider them my favorite. But usually when i go to the local library to borrow books i dont see which authour has written the book. i read the name of the story, check out the cover page, read the rview. And thats it. if its something that suits me i go home and read it. Even if i check the author i dont know most of them except just a few :P. so whats the use right.
