I guess that is one of the reasons plus being prepared emotionally and psychologically too is another factor, It will be hard to raised a child when we can't provide well his/her needs. From the vitamins, healthy food/milk and others!

No I dont think its a good reason not to have children, if me and my partner had waited to have children until we were finacially sound we would probably never have had them. As long as they wont starve or go naked then its ok and being mature enough to have a child is more relevant in my opinion!

This may be perception of many. But you see, it will depend upon person to person. If a person is financial sound to get married, then he would surely be capable of brining up a child. You would have noticed that labourers also have kids and they also bring them up.
On the other hand, it is very true that cost of living is going higher day by day and it is difficult to meet the both the ends. So, if a couple is financially sound, that couple can meet the requirement of his child and can bring up his child in a healthier manner.
What is your opinion?

Honestly, i think it is a pretty good idea - i mean, it shouldn't be the only time you have children but there's no point in having kids if you cant afford to keep a roof over your head & clothes on your back then you don't want to have kids - it just seems a little unfair.
I'm not saying you have to be rich or always in front with your bills or anything like that ~ just as long as you can keep up with your bills, always have food in the house & have clothes, then there's no reason not to have kids if you really want them.
I wouldn't have kids if i had a huge mortgage that i was struggling with or a mountain of debt & always had to use the welfare system for food vouchers - that just wouldn't be fair to a baby & we all know how expensive it can be setting up for kids & making sure they don't run out of things like nappies, food, clothes & so on.
As long as you can be comfortable & can handle everything that comes with the cost of living & so on, then of course kids are GREAT! I also think you need to be mature to cope with raising a child, that's a pretty important issue in itself!
So yeah, finances do play a big part in having a family & i'm sure most people wait until they're in less debt etc just because they know it's probably the smartest thing to do.

I don't know what you consider financially sound. If you have a job, can put food on the table, provide shelter and don't have a mountain of debt, I don't think finances should hinder you from having children. Of course you should WANT children if you're going to have them, and if you do you'll find a way to support them.
