How far away from your best friend are you? By this I mean miles/kilometers (is that the metric for miles?). My best friend is my husband but then I have another best friend that is a man and he lives in California and I live in Ohio. He just moved to a different town and I should have mapquested this before I post this discussion but before when he lived in San Jose, he was almost 2500 miles away and I don't remember how to convert miles into metric. I could do the Math if I knew what metric people used instead of miles but I don't and if you would like to tell me that as well please feel free.

My best friend is in the same room as me. I'm lucky in that respect, as my partner was my best friend before we got together, and is still my best friend now. I have a best friend from childhood, who lives about 100 miles north of me. I don't get to see her very often, but we e-mail weekly, and talk on the phone as often as we can. By the way, metric people (love that, by the way!) use kilometres instead of miles. There are roughly 1.6 kilometres to a mile. 2500 miles would be approximately 1560 kilometres.

lol thanks for clearing up the kilometers (that's how we spell it here, I know stupid American thing, they have to change all the spellings lol) Does the rest of the world know that we only learn metric for a brief period in grade school? I think we spent maybe 8 weeks learning it. I think we are the only ones that use standard as a measure unit, we should really conform with the rest of the world but I don't ever see that happening lol. It's really great how your partner was your friend before you were together that's how my husband and I are.

My Best friend is always near me in my heart. Whether he stay away high in the sky or low under the earth I can see him just by closing my eyes. Some time the long distance breaks friendship but good friends will not go away even their body goes, their mind will be with you.

I did try that once but it didn't work out so well. I couldn't imagine my husband that far away, even though there are times I would like him to live that far away.

I am really far from my home for my studies and i am missing my all friends. Its about 1100 km. And what else where i am studying the language is different so i cant make new friends quickly. And its not possible to make true friends how it can be. I dont the language these people talk in. But you asked about kilometeres and miles. What you got your first answer its wrong i think. The relation between km and mile is 1 mile =1.609344 km ,so obviously mile is greater than km, in numbers. So if you are talking about 2500 miles thats 4023.36 kilometers. And thats for sure. I am studying in engineering.

I'm sorry to hear. I couldn't do what you are doing. My husband and I went to Chinatown while we were in California and we couldn't find anyone that spoke English. I was looking for something (an almond cookie, but it had to be a certain kind), I thought that if I explained what I was looking for the shop owner could point me in the right direction. I think we went to 20 shops before we found someone who spoke English. I can completely feel for your current journey. You must be very strong because I couldn't stand not being able to communicate for one day I couldn't imagine for my entire stay in college. Good luck I hope things get better!

It's always nice to be near to each other between best friends. But, with the duties and obligations, each has to proceed on his/her own ways some times. But, I always keep in touch with my best friend. Emails are the best way these days. Yes, 1 mile = 1.6 kilometer. 1000 miles = 1600 kilometers.

You're so lucky, I love my husband but I can't say to him, do you know what stupid thing you did yesterday lol It is much easier to say it to my best friend that isn't my husband so then I feel better and we don't have to have an argument about it.

I used to live only about 70 miles from my best friend, which happened after we graduated from school. Then he got a really good IT job.....in canada. I live in arkansas which is in the south of the US. not sure how many miles that it, but I am sure it is quite a few. Hard to talk to him too, since his cell phone doesn't work up there and he can't get a new one for 6 months until his citzenship goes through. So email is about all we got. Kinda sux but I am happy for him, his new career, and his girl friend.

I live just over 1500 miles from my best friend. She lives in Michigan. I really wish she lived nearby.
