Is Anyone Interested In Getting Into (Online) Freelance Writing?

I think I spent the better part of last year FRUSTRATINGLY looking for ways to make money online. I tried paid posting, but it didn't work for me (I know it's worked for many people and that's cool, but it wasn't for me. I'm glad I tried it out though.)
At the start of this year, I decided to try my hand at freelance writing. I ain't gonna lie, I was scared, but since I started, I've made close to $700 so far.
How do I feel? Proud. Good. It's been 6 months and I haven't completely gotten over the shock that I'm ACTUALLY making money online.
I'm no expert, I still have a lot to learn, but I can show you how I did it.

Wow! I'm so envious! I'm actually interested but hesitant in joining sites that require blogging/writing or whatever.. I'm not sure whether I will be up to the job since I do not have much experience in writing articles or anything similar (like education). I don't think my English is up to standard xP

That's just your fear talking - that's not really you.
But I do understand where you're coming from - more than you know.
You CAN do it.

I have been writing for over a year now and have found it to be a great way to make extra money. Here in the northeast, it paid for my heat last winter... definitely a plus!!

Good on you! Hopefully, in another 6 months, you would have made enough to pay even more of your bills (and treat yourself, too).

Already doing it to some degree, but would be curious to know what sites you are using. Just in case you have sites that I haven't heard of yet.

Hi jewelenterprises!
It sucks that you can't go back and edit posts on myLot 'cos on hindsight I should have added a couple more things to my initial post. Ah well...
I get most of my gigs off the Digital Point forums - have you heard of them before? I use their Content Creation section. They're doing maintenance work on their site at the moment, so it's not up, but here's the link to the section I use: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?102.
I'd say 70% of what's there is $0.01/word gigs (which I totally avoid). However, I've gotten some great gigs off there that pay better - much better.
Which sites do you use?
take care...

Actually, that's one site I hadn't heard of.
The other ones that I use are craigslist, elance and ideamarketers (you can register as a ghostwriter)
And I love your blog name.... tee hee, if I got paid for that I'd be a millionaire. They could distill it and use it as rocketfuel LOL.

That's really cool. I wouldn't mind getting into something like that. I enjoy writing so it might be a good fit for me.

If you enjoy writing, then you're half the way there! For me, I got into (online) freelance writing rather reluctantly. I'm an artist and a poet. I run the odd workshop or two a month. I just didn't think (online) freelance writing was for me, but that's the way it's worked out. I've gotten some great gigs that make me feel that maybe I can actually add this to my repetoire - maybe I'm meant to be doing this alongside other stuff. So in the short to medium term, that's what I plan to do!
Pass by my blog when you get the time (and if you want to) - I wrote a review of DP there. I think DP's going thru maintenance at the mo' 'cos their site's down, but when it't back up, have a browse through.

There are a number of writing sites on the web. I think money can be made on all of them if you are willing to work at it. I am in the process of investigating several sites,
I think you've got to find a place where you are comfortable.

Hi snowy22315
Thanks for adding to the discussion.
I don't think money can necessarily be made on all of them; however, everyone's experience is different and you probably do have some people who make money on just about every writing site they hit (lucky them!). I didn't have much luck on sites like Helium or GetaFreelancer - however, Digital Point is where I found my fit (so I definitely agree with on the comfort front).
I think I'm getting too comfortable though and should perhaps look at one or two other sites where I can secure gigs.

Hi Allie_xoxo!
School of Journalism? Good on ya!
I'd be happy to help. Take a look at my blog first - there's a review I wrote on there about DP. There are SO MANY forums on DP so my review was from a freelance-writing perspective.
take care and welcome to the online money-making world!
