It can give you diabetes if you consume too much. Coca Cola has a lot of sugar content on it. My Aunt was a Coke addict and now she had her eyes operated due to the complications of her diabetes.

Hie Celestislove, I think must be the caffein got her addicted and sorry to hear about her state, hope she's much better now. She could still enjoy the coke but the diet version though and able to enjoy the gassy feeling.

Before I encountered a brochure that stating that coke started as a pharmaceutical products, I can not remember for what purpose, but because of its taste and carbon water many got addicted to it, too much of anything is really bad and i mean everything. Thats why coke make the diet and non sugar for us to enjoy its taste. good day...

Soft drink can't make us diabetes. My father already drink coca cola everyday more then 30 years. He don't get diabetes. All we need is just a healthy life style.

It would indirectly and raises the potential of getting diabetes as the blood sugar will be elevated. And longstanding high sugar in the blood causes harm to the cells in the body. The chances would be higher if you come from a family history of diabetes, leading a sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercises. Besides that too much coke can lead to other health issue too. There are diet cokes and other less sweetened soft drinks but true enough - taste horrible.
At least 8 to 9 teaspoon of sugar in a can of coke,so take a pick - sweeten in moderation or in your whole life when one has diabetes!
