urgent.. i need to stop other people on my house using my computer

i got problem here, i need to go somewhere else so i will leave my computer in house, but i dont other people use it only my wife, actualy i dont want other people on my house use it for a long time, what sepouse i do, i want to say to them but i worry that they will think other thing about me.

Set a password for that computer which you and your wife will know. Then, have your wife monitor the usage time for those who are going to use it and tell them to stop if they reached the time you specified. Let's say your wife would tell them to stop after a couple of hours. If they are only guest, they would at least follow something like that.

If you don't want to seem bad on not wanting others to be using your computer, in this case for a long time, you can simply post a friendly reminder stating, "Please conserve electricity, maintain a one hour computer usage." If that doesn't work, you just either have to turn off the computer the whole time that your away or let it be on for everyone to use. Those are the only choices you have.

password that was the thing i want to do now, but my wife is too good to stop the people from using the computer after a long time. i think i will ask my wife to turn off the switch without been seeing by the user of my computer..ehehe

a reminder that a good idea, i never think about that way. try remind people at start up or make a scheduler reminder, i will find a useful info about this.

who are these other people? my computer is also placed in the living room but the rest of my family don't use it. even my hubby. i get uncomfortable, too. not really because i keep anything, but i am pretty scared that they might tamper with an important file. or they would do something that might introduce a virus...but of course my husband would not do that....i am just fussy. anyway, yeah, the best way would be to put a password. then share it only with your wife. that way, nobody uses it when you are away. then maybe, you can keep the power cord. lol good day and God bless you1

your situation is just like me, maybe i will try to put a password, but it maybe happen they will ask my wife what the password is, i just hope they use my computer for good purpose only.

then a password is better.. or then i will telling them not to use it for a long time cause the cpu is not as good anymore.. little trick :)

Password is the best solution for denying access while there are some softwares that makes autoshutdown possible but even then I can restart the machine if I had to use it for a long time. Thats not the solution dont put ur wife in a danger situation and take all the blame of putting the password and not telling it.

they can use it if i was at home but when i away they still can use it but i want them use it not for a long time, is there any posiable way to make it automatic shutdown or stop.
