Shhhhh - That's the sound of no one caring what you think

Do you ever feel that way? You start a discussion and then you wait, and wait, and wait. Until, eventually, it disappears out of sight and becomes yet another Discussion with no responses. Now I am not going to ask you whether that happens to you. What I would like to know is what has been your worst discussion. Even if you have several without any response. Which do you think was the weakest. Mine was one called the "Miracle at Speedy Motors" for which I received no responses. It is about a book of the same name. But no one seemed to have ever heard of it. Probably because it hadn't been published when I posted the discussion!

LOL That must have been before I met you darling - I could never leave you with no responses even if it was just to come blow a at you! lol I have felt as though nobody cares sometimes when it takes ages for any response to come in but luckily I haven't had anything with no responses at all that I can remember although I did have one that only had one response and that was from my adopted American Mom! lol It was about a bad day /night I had had and checking insurance policies http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1131035.aspx just so you can see how sad it looks! lol xxx

I am afraid I can't tell you much about my adorable friend p1ke, suffice to say that he started speaking to a low and depressed mummymo and left her feeling lighter , happier with tears of laughter on her face! xxx

When it comes to posting Mummymo I am still a beginner compared to you. I shall always be at your knee, or over it. LOL. Getting started can be a slog, but once you become a little established and people get to know you then it certainly does get easier. I shall have a look at your poor discussion. XX

Are you trying to make me jealous Mummymo. Who is this "adorable man". He should be unmasked and sent to bed without supper for his impertinence in monopolising you. Especially at bedtime!!

I think last year I made a lame attempt at a "regular feature"...s/o's race results. I thought maybe some race fans might be interested but they fell flat. He wasn't really good last year either so they weren't much for even me to get excited about though!

lol not just on here but in real life. I'll talk to my hubby for example and we'll come to an agreement on something and the next day it's like we never even had that discussion! Oh the insanity.

We're like that. My wife tells me something. I "forget" and deny she ever told me. She rolls her eyes and mutters to herself. She doesn't accept that she is as bad though!

I have the experience. That is the reunion of our elementary school students , at the beginning we recalled the happy time we ever had toghter, but when I talked about the current life ,they were not so in it .I felt a little upset . But now I realized that I should have considered more when I had a topic.

There was one I started, I thought it would be a surefire hit. It was about stupid people or stupid happenings. Al Gore got the ball rolling on that one when he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Noone responded to that one and still haven't. It's the only discussion with no response that I have and it drives me nutty looking at it every day. Sigh....

I was begging for someone to help me with my sticky rice in the 3rd discussion I ever posted here. No one wanted to help me. No one cared about my plight. Surely with all the members here of asian descent someone would have been able to provide a little assistance but no....that discussion went unanswered for 3 months before finally someone commented. I gave BR just to get if out of my list of unresolved discussions. I love the title of this by the way. It looks like I'm rubbing off on you. ROFL

I like the title too. I pinched it from an e mail someone sent me. Like George Washington, I cannot tell a lie - apparently he did tell lies. One of them was that he couldn't tell lies! If you hadn't had a response Cyn I'd have gone hunting for your sticky rice discussion and answered it. Never mind.

i guess so...i have posted discussions with no responses..and that i cant recall anymore unless i have to scroll it here..maybe i posted topics that were not appealing to the others..and cant relate to the subject

I think that it can be something as simple as the time of day you post. It helps if your friends have notifications switched on in their E mail too.

That's why I seldom start my own discussions, I carefully think about it before deciding to hit the "submit" button. I think I have one which I posted two months or so ago, I thought it was a good post but I guess it's also about the number of people interested on that topic that counts as well. I have many WEAK posts back then, that I also wish and hope that people don't have to respond to it anymore because I feel stupid whenever I see those discussions I made..
@p1kef1sh (45681)

It happens to us all. I posted one the other day that I really regretted posting and ended up with four pages of responses! Just goes to show that the discussion starter isn't always the best judge of what will or will not succeed.

I have some interests that not many people are part of so there's a few discussions where there are no responses, or worse people have just responded to say they don't know who I'm talking about because they feel sorry for me. I don't think I have any discussions that didn't get a single response but I have ones that only got 2 or 3. It's hard to post discussions that get lots of responses every time, I started one about marriage that I thought would be popular but only got a few responses. You can never be sure what everyone will respond to.

Oh yes, of course. You don't have to ask, because you know it happens to so many people. It's kind of aggravating, but then again, I guess you just learn to accept the fact that this does happen to the best of us. LOL My worst discussion was probably one where I talked about really getting into your favorite shows. I think it was the way I worded it. It just came out a little funny, and never received any responses. Well, I hope one day someone reads the book, then comes to myLot to discuss it...and finds your discussion. Best wishes to you!

Yeah I have discussions too that has no response. I think I have two discussions that has no response. I do not know why nobody cares to posts their response on my discussion. Maybe it is not that interesting to them. That is why I am choosy in making discussions so that I am assured of a response from viewers.

My worst was the one that I posted about cats. It was supposed to be a joke, but some people didn't take it like that and it was deleted, but not before someone told me in no uncertain terms that it wasn't appropriate and they took great offense to it. Others thought it was hilarious, but it was deleted all the same.

Hi Pikefish, No I do not have many discussions at all. I do not start any, till now only three or four I have started. I prefer not to start, I am scared no one will answer mine. All of my discussions will be in the no responses discussions. I can understand how much bad it will feel. That's whgy I try to answer as many no responses discussions as I can , if I like it. I go through that many times and choose the discussions which I can participate.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
2 Jun 08
I can understand that reluctance Madlees. The only way to get over it is to post more. Eventually it comes right. I have 38 pages of discussions that I have made, and now only one or two with no responses at all. If I can do it, so can you. Good luck.

Yes, this has happened to me. I started a discussion about Neil Diamond's new album 'Home Before Dark'. It is raising huge interest here in UK as h is touring and appearing on all the tv and radio chat shows. I have to admit I was disappointed that the response was so - blank! I also started a discussion about pople giving away a share in one million dollars. I can understand pople avoiding that as it sounds like yet another get rich quick scam - it was a poor choice of subject. But I did think the Neil Diamond topic might attract some attention. Tell you what, I'm gonna go and give yours a response if I can find it.

Hihi, If no one responded, the probability is high that the topic is too niche and no one has the knowledge to help. My worst discussions are those I started when I first joined myLot. I had no friends then and I started crapper discussions that I will cringe when I look at them now. Don't worry, be happy.

Honestly, if you don't mind me remarking, I don't understand why you sometimes start discussions of this nature - every time I see your discussions, they have lots of responses! It is like Brad Pitt asking why no one thinks he is handsome... that's...

I did start something about life and it was a big dud. I only get reminded when I check my discussions and there was this deep, thoughtful discussion which I thought would tear at a person's soul and have him/her groping for answers from the depths of their psyche. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. No response.

I have a couple that have gotten only one or two responses. I don't start very many discussions though I have been trying more lately. For me, it seems like the ones that actually mean more to me are the ones that ignored.

hi pikefish you have a discussion nobody answered? wow' I have always loved your discussions. yes I had one too and I thought I had searched and found nothing like mine but after I posted it I found that someone else had copied the same todays saying probably from the same newspaper only six months earlier. they got five and I got sadly' zero,zilch. and at that time I was really new here. I felt bad but after I had become known a bit I got a lot of responses on most all my discussions. I never had another zilch one. several with five or six. also I did more checking before I posted a discussion too.

It takes a while, but you do usually reach a point where people respond. I suspect that those that have been here a while have discovered that quality always scores higher than quantity. I'm just lucky because you don't get either from me. LOL.

The book title rings no bells ,so it was a little hard to respond to that one piky my boy....but if you see a copy of Cherie Blairs auto going cheaply lol ..pick it up for me...my nose is killing me!!,...Re discussions ..well I post now and again,but im afraid im more of a response adder than anything..

LOL. Cherie's book will be in the remainder bin soon. I'd get it out of the Library. Actually, I wouldn't get it out at all. The book is one of the First Ladies Detective Agency books. Pure escapism. Whilst you are getting Cherie's book pick one of those up too. The first one sets the scene.

The detective bit is simply the backdrop. It's set in Bostwana and is gently humorous. As for "extras". I really don't know. Whatever, I expect we paid for them.

I am mortified that you find it amusing to poke fun at dear Cherie,she who has toiled so tirelesssly to support her hubby in his role!!....But jesting aside...I do want to read it..and maybe it will be widely available in the charity shops soon.The one that im really interested in is the Carole Caplin story...did she or didnt she....provide extras when massaging ...As for Miss Marple....welll im not too deeply into detectives..ladies or not...there are those two on the tele...whats there names..Lavender and Thyme or some such like....omg..makes your toes curl.

Theres no one caring what you think and on the other hand theres no one ever listening to what you say!!!...do you actually heed the words that spill from Mrs Pikes mouth..or are they much the same as the ones that slip between my lips..they fall on deaf ears!!..I honestly used to think that Mr Ruby had a hearing problem..which if truth be told he does...but it comes and goes ..and my words land on deaf ears more often than not!!This morning he popped back from the allotment to get something..when I saw him later he said..Oh I popped home and you werent there...I had already said more then six times lol that I had to go out this morning ....omg cotton buds needed here please.
