can std affect pregnancy, c an it affect the eyes of the babies?

i have (well, we're not that close but we knew each other so i addresse her as a friend. she gave birth to a baby blind boy. during her pregnancy, she got diagnosed with std. does it has something to do with the childs eyes?

STD can affect the eyes and health of the child. There are sometimes that affect the eyes if it is born natural. There are the ones that affect through the blood. I hope it is not the one through the blood because this one is the most dangerous one. If the pregnancy is six weeks old then she can receive some medications to prevent it from becoming infected.
