If you won the lottery say a few million pounds (or equivalent), enough to keep you comfortable without having to work would you carry on working?
I know alot of people might say yes but I can honestly say no I wouldn't. I think mainly because I would love to have plenty of spare time as I feel like I never have enough. I would honestly not get bored. Saying that after a couple of years i might set up my own business as that's something I would love to do.
I've not won the lottery yet but fingers crossed!
so what about you? carry on working or quit your job?

I have already quit my job so that one doesn't apply. Yes it is wonderful to have all that spare time. Even when you are not a multi millionaire. I have had the answer to this planned for ages. Pay of my and famiies mortgages. Invest enough to live comfortably and invest the remainder. With the income off that I would start a charity that gave only to bodies that were not eligible for Lottery good cause awards. My job would be to chair the Trustees at the quarterly money giving sessions. Bliss.

p1key.....I couldn't have said it better.....Something's Bothering Me today.
More importantly than winning Money.
Why in the world have you ( of all Fish ) Dropped down to a Red-Star?!!!
( Panic ) Who in the world gave you this rating?
( Let me at 'em ! ) ( HEy....I sound just like the cowardly Lion , from the wizard of Oz! ) Put 'em up...Put 'em up !!!!!!
I would probably start enough Charities , that I would be BAck to where I currently am in Life.
But....I would be comforted in Knowing I made a Difference in the world. A positive difference.
Besides....Friendship is More VAluable than the Lottery............
I love my P1key.....God-Bless!

One thing I always thought i'd do is start an animal sanctuary. But i'd definately give to charity. I feel bad that I can't afford to give monthly to charity at the moment but i'm deeply in the red.
Speaking of red, I don't understand the stars even! I didn't know you could slip! What on earth do they mean? Do they have one in green?

Thank you Ag. I'm not too bothered about my star. My ratings were 99/100 for months, then when I had my "protest" they slipped to 96 and they are now 94 I think. I expect someone thinks I am silly and rates me negatively. Their problem not mine. My friends are my most important stars. They are 100/100 all the time. XX

I work from home, so I probably would keep working. But probably not as much. If I had that much money though, i'd probably be a lot less stressed and much more happier, you know? I would get a house, and have a couple more babies.

I find keeping up with the bills incredibly stressful as i'm deeply in the red. It really depresses me and i'm trying to sort it out. So i'd had to agree it would be so much less stressful. I pay all my bills monthly so being able to pay them in full when they come would feel amazing.

Invest, quit, start doing my hobbies full time. Would be wicked to use that cash to fly to Southern Italy to photograph and film.
Depending on how much I could look into film production.

yeah.. It definitely will be harder to concnetrate in work as the motivation is no longer there when we have lotsa and lotsa of money waiting at home ofr us to spend.. ANd there's no point in working for a mearse sum of salary.. PLus conflicts in work will make it worse, because one will be thinking, i can quit now and i dun need to endure it anymore, wat's more, i've got tons of money at home.. ALl these factors can actually cause us to lose our head and stop working for the wrong reasons.. So by doing something that u like, will be a good thing ^_^

I think it would be hard to concentrate at work knowing you didn't have to be there. I think i'd personally find it harder especially if someone is being rude to me. I'd have to end up working for myself. Or maybe studying something i'd love to do.

If I'll ever win a lottery, I will do the same thing i saw on the television. He throw away his money straight from a helicopter. Very charitable and very kind! That's what I wanna do, I wanna make people smile.

hi there!
I guess I will still go on and work my head off! lol!
I think I will not be comfortable sitting at home or going out and spend my winnings. Besides, just like any material things - money will soon run out. So I guess I will be investing or make my own business. Besides if we quit our work just because we have money - it will be a very boring life since there will be nothing to more to rant about! Everybody loves to rant about work right? right! =)

I rarely rant about work. Even if something has wound me up when i'm on the bus I switch off! I'd definately want to pursue my hobbies and maybe see what comes from that. Fingers crossed as i'm playing the lottery tonight!

I was immediately going to say that I would not work and that those people who continue to work when they win the lottery are mad.
But, if you enjoy your work then why not continue?
If I did win a big sum of money, I could pursue some hobbies - and if I made money off them that would be "working"!
I would quit my current job.

I enjoy my current job but if I had loads of money and the chance to pursue my hobbies I would leave. Not straight away though. I think I would study some more also. I think everybody has said they would quit their job though.

Well for me, since i like what i'm doing and the fulfillment i'm getting with it, i guess i would still go on with my job. With the money i've won, i'll invest it in business ventures and try to make multiple streams of income. And maybe spend some of my winnings to pamper myself.
I've not won anything in my life but if i get a chance to win something, it would be nice if it is from the lottery.. :)

You see I like the job I do at the moment but there is other stuff i'd love to do if I had the money. I think i'd be doing something more creative if I had the chance.

Welcome to mylot. How about running your own business though? or following a dream that you haven't been able to afford to do before. Both of those options apply to me, I have dreams I can't afford and a business i'd love to set up!

I won't go on working for a period coz I would travel around the world with my parents,my grandmother and my bf.I think after a period of spending money,I can figure out what I really want to do with so much money.

I think if I won a load of money, quit my job, and had plenty to splash out on i'd first get my house under construction (i've designed this in my head, it's gorgeous) and then i'd go to a few place i've always wanted to or place I wanted to revisit;
Klagenfurt, Austria
Paris, France
Orland, Florida
Portmerion and York, England
Ferragudo, Portugal
Reykjavík, Iceland
I could keep going actually.

Am I a millionaire? No. If I was i'd be a whole lot happier and I wouldn't be working hard everyday. Well i'd still work hard but work doesn't seem hard when you're doing it for your own goal.

Yes, I would continue working because I'm a writer and that's more than my job. It's my passion and the thing that keeps my sane. I'm serious without it I'm a very unpleasant person to be around, if I have money or not.

If I was working doing something I loved something creative I wouldn't quit that. The job I do now is a job I love but it's not something I'd want to bring home with me. I'd love to find something that I'd do any time of the day paid or not. Something that I'd be as passionate about as you are about writing. I think as soon as my neck and arm are fixed, well if, I will learn to play a musical instrument or two as i've never really tried hard before even though I have loads of friends that are extremely musical. I love music but I think I always thought I had plenty of time to learn something new, having this problem with my arm has made me realise I need to go for it now rather than wait for a rainy day.

I'd still work, but only part time, just so I can spoil everyone I love and still be "comfortable. I would first buy my boyfriends dad a Harley (its his dream, hed be so excited hed cry probably) and my brother his girlfriend and both my parents and I brand new cars. Id take a break from spending after that and just work so I dont blow it all and then Id move out into a big house (nice size, but not mansion) then travel all around the world.

I think I wouldn't be so level-headed. Too be totally honest i'm a bit lazy too so I just couldn't imagine working for anyone else. I'm good at motivating myself for my own tasks though!
I'd love to be able to spoil my friends and family.

I think that's the ideal for most people. I'd do the same except it would be a different type of business. I just couldn't imagine working for someone else again.

wise people actually work for others in order to be able to gather some money and set up their own business, so if ur lucky to win a jackpot, i dont see a reason to continue working for no one except of to set up ur own business...keep the finger crossed girl and remember me when u hit the jackpot..i got your back
@anonymous101 (487)

haha i'll remember that. What with the cost of living and heavy debt I never have any money leftover. Hopefully that will all change soon though! Unfortunately not with the lottery win but debt management :(

i would keep my job for a couple weeks and think about it without going nuts (yet) :P
and then i would try to start my own business while im on my actual job, after i had all my things organized for the new job, i would quit the actual job, do a trip wherever i would like to and then come back to start the new business =)

I'd find it really hard to concentrate at work. I think i'd end up shopping online at every break or lunch time I had!
