Don't you hate it when you don't get enough sleep?

Have you ever stayed up too late and then had to get up really early? Have you ever gone through times when you barely got any sleep at all?
This past two weeks, I've been getting less than five hours sleep nightly. And, that's made me feel very lethargic and sick. But, last night, I slept eight hours and it was wonderful. I don't know what changed. I tried everything to get more sleep. I tried hot milk. I tried taking a shower before bedtime to relax and even darkened up the windows with drapes. But, nothing worked.
And, then suddenly last night, something worked. Not sure why. Has that ever happened to you?
Do you ever go through weeks where you don't get lots of sleep and then suddenly you start sleeping regularly?

My sleep averages itself out, if I have little sleep one night then I catch up on that sleep the next night, so I don't get too worried about it. I have a little bit of energy drink on the morning to get me through the day, but other than that I am fine.

I always get good sleep, thunder can not make me wake up, lol. I love this. But sometimes i do stay up late, like today if i found sth interested on the net i guess, i don't know, that depends. Hope your insomnia get better. Why not try putting an apple beside the pillow, it is said that the falvor the apple emits can make people sleep faster.

Sure I do.
It doesn't feel good when you are feeling a low point in energy level.
So what to do?
Try to get more sleep if possible... otherwise, beats me!

I've worked graveyard shifts for almost 3 years now, i can tell you the first few months were the worst. Doesn't matter where i was, i'd sleep (and snore) even in the presence of other people. Of course I hated it but i had to cope up.
What i wanted to tell you and the others here is that if you continue to do this, your body will eventually adjust. But of course you also have to help yourself knowing that sleep is really needed by the body.
My body adjusted to the time of sleep, but not the amount. So what I do is whenever I have time, i'd sleep even in between activites. For example, if i have to travel for like an hour or so, I'd close my eyes and relax the entire ride. if, there's nothing else important to do, I'd doze even for a few minutes. It helps.

Because I work at night.I go to bed late and wake up early.I get 4-5 hours of sleep a day.I guess that is all my body requires.Because I function fine.I have had eights hours of sleep twice. And I was so tired and I had a headache for the whole day.I hope that you continue getting lots of sleep Beauty.

This past two weeks I was the same way. And, most days I felt fine without sleep. Sometimes I would get grumpy after 15 hours of being awake, but I just couldn't sleep. And, that went on forever! At least it felt that way.

It is very rare that I suffer sleepless nights, unless the kids have been keeping me up for some reason. But I have suffered with it and I know that it is not nice.
My hubby suffers with it a lot, he is a pest when he cannot sleep because he tosses and turns and it wakes me up. If he is really bad with it he will go and sleep downstairs though which is considerate of him. He usually suffers with it on a Sunday for some reason!

There are times I get like that. See I work nights shifts and there are times I can't sleep when I get home that I have to watch dvd to make me sleep. Sometimes I suddenly wake up and I can't sleep anymore. Those are the times I hate when I suddenly wake up either from noise or someone opening the light..I have a hard time getting back to sleep and I really try my best to sleep again but I have no luck. Milk doesn't work for me. Usually watching a movie does.

Every now and again I suffer from bouts of insomnia, so when I can't sleep the first thing I try is my lavender and chamomile spray. However, if I don't get enough sleep I am generally very cranky the following day. I was advised to take cat naps during the day to catchup with some sleep when I can but it doesn't always help. I could do with a good sleep right now :-)

I know what you mean. Since April, I really have a hard time trying to get a nice sleep. I can sleep for 8 hours but not straight. I would wake up every 2 or 3 hours. I don't really know why. And this past weeks, I've been going on with less and less sleep but last night I've had 11 hours of sleep but I didn't feel good. I still felt sleepy but then I have to wake up already cos it's way past lunch time. I also tried drinking milk and all those counting lambs stuff but nothing works.
I really hope I can get back to my old sleeping habits cos I'm really decided to find a job already and most probably, my shift's going to be in the morning and I don't want to adjust in just a couple of days.

This happens alot. Hopefully it doesn't go on for a long period of time. I for one routinely do not sleep well. So I grab a nap when I can. Which isn't very often.

I hate people/noisiness disturb my sweet sleepness ,especially at night when I got a peaceful slumber in bed, which will make me angry. When I got unenough sleep, my eyes usually were turgid, I did hate that circumstance.
Of cause, sometime, unenough sleepness caused by myself, surfed internet or did something late night or whole night, but just few times, I don't want to make myself looked haggard most daily time, that's not for a normally woman wants to be.

Yes absolutley. I feel cranky if I dont get enough sleep. And tired. Just wanted to lash out to people without any reason. But usually a good night sleep will cure it all, I will feel rejuvenated and will had good mood all day.

Lately, I have been restless and not been able to fall asleep. I wil spend a few hours just laying in bed. I go through phases with sleeping. The room needs to be dark and there can't be any noise around.
For me it seems when I have something very important the next day , that is when I will toss and turn.
I will hope coffee will help , but sometimes it just wont do the trick .
Usually , The bad week or 2 will pass , and I will go back to sleeping normal.
It does seem to be pretty common.

I will get irritated easily if i dun get enough of sleep.. hehe ^_^ If it's just 1 day, then it isn't so bad.. BUt for long periods of time, i will sure flare up even for the slightest things.. ANd the reason for my not getting enough of sleep is that, i always have a habit of staying up late, till i got a job which requires me to start work at 7am.. ANd so, everyday i tried to sleep by 1am but i cant because i'm used to sleeping at 3am.. So no matter how i force myself, i also cant sleep.. Thus, i'm easily irritated by things.. ANd this continued for months b4 i quit my job.. hehe

Heck yes, I hate it. I have hypothyroidism and I forget to take my pills a lot, which makes me excessively fatigued, and then I have a sleep disorder which makes it even worse. I have a hard time falling asleep and when I do, it's not very deep and if I wake up it takes me forever to go back to sleep.
