yes, link exchange works well. there are some techniques to be followed. exchanging links on sites other than your blog's topic will also help. but you should be careful in choosing the sites. not only they, but you should also be able to produce some traffic to them.

ya i can tell you how this link exchange works. first of all you have to go to orkut community. and then search for blooger or linkexchange communities. join them and give the link of your blog at there. There you can get post about link exchange.example a community name link exchange. It is definitely help full in increasing traffic to your blog. In link exchange you have to exchange
your blog link with some other bloggers link.

Exchanging links is really good as it increases the backlink count. When search engine looks for the results for a specific query page link popularity is one of the criteria. SO more backlink you have more chances you create for your blog to come on starting pages.

Depend on the site you exchange with.
If you have a blog about earning online,
but you exchange with blog about watching TV show,
of course you get nothing.
If the blog you exchange with have close categories and higher traffic,
they might bring you some traffic too.
Beside, this can help a bit on your Page Ranks.
