found a way to get cat pee and its odor off my rug

I know that my old bedroom rug has to go, and had been at my wit's end struggling to get cat pee and its odor out. I've tried pouring some Chlorox on the black stains, but even that didn't work. So now I read that putting vinegar at its full strength takes out the odor AND the stain and tried it. That vinegar seems to be working, as the pee odor isn't so strong. I'm going back to the local Dollar Store for more vinegar. There is still some odor from other stains on that carpet. At least, I'll be able to sleep a little better tonight. I also plan to put vinegar on the sunporch floor where Columbus has peed on instead of in his litterbox.

My solution as I had two cats and two dogs, a hamster, and a turtle. My first cat 14 years old and my two dogs were fine together until we adopted another CAT. My first cat was spraying every ware. I trying many things, But the stuff that seems to work for me is a product called Cole Alive. Product#DY233, It's an Enzyme Bacteria with instant oder control. same stuff that they use in out houses and grease traps. It uses Bacteria like yeast to eat away germs and odors. 2OZ. in a spray bottle and spray away. I need to know now how to keep the two cats from marking their territory? Any Ideas? Vet's can't help me

I keep forgetting about vinegar. It's certainly the least expensive pee cleaner. Good luck with it. At least you can use it as much as necessary.

I have had some luck with the commercial sprays that claim to take odors out. I particularly like the woolite one.
