Crime in Your Area

What is the last crime that has been committed in your area? Hopefully it is a safe enough place where you don't even know! Last week a woman was stabbed in the apartment building next to mine. It was in broad daylight, but it was by the father of one of her children. I live in low income housing by myself, and most of the people who live here are elderly, on disability, or single parents. I guess most stabbings and shootings are actually done by people the victims know, right? I think I heard that on TV. The main problem in my complex is drugs. I think most apartment complexes have somewhat of a problem, just because there are so many people in once place, drugs are bound to be an issue. The management here has really tried hard to make it a safer place. Two weeks ago there was a drug raid two floors above me. Everyone was coming out trying to see what was going on. I was more inclined to go INside when I heard people yelling, but hey, maybe that is just me.

I am very lucky where I live in the UK. In fact in one week the worst crime committed was someone stealing a sandwich from a local shop. We have odd vandalism but in general it is pretty low. There was a murder and a post office raid last year but that was outsiders coming in not local people. Where I used to live thoug was a completely different story and sounds pretty much like you describe where you are which is one of the main reasons I moved away really to give my kids a chance. I think you would be better off living with your parents and paying them rent. The last crime I remember was the doctor who has a practice in a medical building behind our apt complex..his wife was killed by one of his patients.

I can't pay them rent. SSI would count me living with them as income, and they would dock me money. So not only would I not have my own place, but I'd get my 637 docked several hundred dollars. It's a bit screwy. I do have a lot of nice people in my immediate area of the complex. We check up on each other.

Oh and I forgot to mention how much better I felt when I moved out! My migraines although still bad, went down in number. I was much less stressed. Also my dad doesn't want a dog in the house, and I'm not giving up Sherlock. Besides I'm 27 and the only thing I have left is my quasi independence, lol.

I think you live in a pretty scary apartment complex... have you thought of moving?... the last crime committed in my area was a sort of robbery... that is very common in my area... but nobody ever gets hurt... which is good... they tend to go to an apartment break in at night... and steal cell phones and ipod... they don't get the big stuff... just the small ones... i live with my baby daughter... and it is a good thing that my landlady... put extra security measure to keep all her tenents safe...

I can't move for about 10 more months, but when those months come around I'll have all my paperwork ready to look for another place. With a baby daughter I'm glad that your landlady is so considerate to her tenants.

Not sure what the last crime in our immediate area was, probably some traffic violation though. We are pretty safe where we are, thankfully. The road is really busy and, while we don't interact, the neighbours still all keep an eye out for problems with each other. Even had an elderly gentleman jump 2 fences to let us know that there was a huge lizard in our backyard. he was worried that it might hurt our girls. I thought that was sweet, even though we knew Lacey the Lace Monitor was there. She was kind of like a pet! lol. You are right with your crime stats. Something like 82% of all crimes are committed by someone the victims knew or know. This includes, child abuse, rape, theft and assaults. Sad but true.

I do feel somewhat comforted about the safety issue because there is no one in my life who would harm me like that man did to the mother of his baby.

There are no crime in my community but in the country itself there were 30 murders in one week. Sometimes I wonder if Jamaica is little IRAQ. My little country which is such a nice place is being run down by gunmen. Well I know that the good Lord will hear our prayers and see to our supplication.

..the thing that comes to my mind is a man went to shoot his x-wife, but her mother jumped in front and took the bullet! And the cops were there by then and shot and killed him. We're just a bunch of little towns around here mostly..

My area is very safe, never hear about crime. hmm, never say never, right? It is very safe and quiet, I am away from the city, on suburbs. We have older people here and many self-employed people.

Crime is happening every day in this city. The front page of the newspaper rarely has anything I want to read. Gang violence is on the rise and so many innocent people end up dieing. Domestic Violence cases are also a bigger problem, as people are laid off and can't find another job. My daughters boyfriend just was hired for a job once he completes the training. He was out of work 6 months and this is a Temp Job. He was willing to accept any full time position.

there was a domestic dispute in the middle of my parking lot last week. a bunch of us were out congregating by the pool, and this couple was "play fighting"- or so we thought. next thing we know, he punched her in the face, knocked her down on the ground. he walked off. she stood up, brushed herself off and went in the other direction. i guess that this is normal behavior for them because there was no arguing, or anything to even trigger that this may be coming. needless to say, he was arrested. it wasn't on the news, but i witnessed it. we have been hearing a report on the news lately about a man that was shot in an apartment complex not too far from mine. no witnesses, no leads and this happened nearly a year ago. i just heard about it about two weeks ago. i like to think that i live in a fairly safe neighborhood, but you can never be too sure about who you're really living next to.

I live in a town that has between 5,000 and 10,000 people in it. We don't have a ton of crime like a big city such as chicago, new york, or indianpolis would, but we do have crime. We had a murder commited just a year or two ago. One of my friends was killed. And then typical robbery/domestic violence things too.

Actually where I live is a very safe place and here is really almost no crime at all. Just a very few cases happen. Even statistics show, that it is one of the saftiest places in europe. I read something that statistically here are 0.7 murders per 1.000.000 inhabitants per year. Actually we have only around 700.00 inhabitants, which would make about one murder every second year. Probably it is cause I am living on an island and it is not so easy to disappear after you commited some crime? Anyway, I can tell that I am even leaving the house without closing the windows or I don't close the car in my yard.

About a week and a half ago I was mylotting late into the night. When I got hungry I walked down to the convienience store near my house to get a sandwich or something. I noticed a police car parked in the lamplight outside and thought nothing of it, probably just a hungry cop on the late shift. This hungry young cop however, stopped me at the door firmly. "I just want you to know this place has been robbed."
