Did you study in a school that required you to live in a hostel? Have you ever lived somewhere away from your home all by yourself possibly with your friends? I believe hostel life should be a part of one's life as it adds enormous experience about people. It helps to understand different kinds of people, cultures and their habits. Also it s great fun living a life of independence. Wish you could do anything you wanted now and in hostel you could have done it. I have been living in a hostel for 4 years. I must say it's been truly superb experience all this while.

yes jade, i have lived in a hostel. it was when i was doing my mbbs degree at the medical school. of course, it was a lot of fun.no more the nagging of parents, no grandpas and other relatives to bully you. it is an absolutely serene experience. but these are testing times for you as well. students in thei teens do take up smoking, addictions and other bad habits during this time. practising self control and fear of god helps you stay away from all these. i miss my golden days and companions a lot.

The only hostels I've ever been to only allow people to stay for a few days at a time, but the time I've spent in them was quite interesting. Most of the people I met were also traveling, young, and very interesting, so it was a great experience and I got to meet a lot of people (and types of people) that I probably wouldn't have met otherwise.
I loved my 'independent' life, traveling alone, meeting new people alone, and generally being independent, but I do have a lot more fun now that I have a constant travel companion. :)
