Yes I have . I have solved some hardware and some software problems now and then. If I'm using my PC, then I use it very carelessly and it ends up having a lot of viruses and stuff, which always wants me to re install its OS. I've been using Leopard for sometime now and I've been having a very safe time browsing. bourne

I do too. I started using computer in DOS days. During those times 8088 was raining PC, a floppy disk base and no hardrive. I would say that that was my initiations with software. I was fortunate to use windows 3.1 and in Win95 the birth of MS Office. I learn hardware the hard way starting with my Pentium 100 now considered a Classic. During those days technological advancement in computers takes a longer time and so the more time to study it. I was able to upgrade it to the fullest till no more slot are available. It has 4 boots DOS, win98, win2000 and winXP(yes including this one for evaluation purposes only). I was constructing desktop since then as well as installing OS and related softwares and utilities.

Yes, I have... I have been using windows for over 9 years now. I used to work with Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE. It was really great to use that operating system after taking a course of MS-DOS. However, I was already very familiar with the usage style of MS-DOS and didn't have any problems while using it. Although, having a computer with Windows 98SE made me feel much better, after learning the basics of it of course. I didn't have any computer courses after taking my first course on Ms-Dos but my computer was already an old one in those days and while every other people were able to play games and surf the net with their pc, I was just able to play with my OS. And this is why I learnt the details of windows98 in those days. After using windows 98 for a few years, XP came out. I didn't use windows ME or windows 2000 but when XP was out I had just bought a newer computer and installed windows XP on it. I was very happy with my new operating system and was just learning the details of XP after all. I can understand what is going wrong on my machine whenever I have a problem. Even if I doN't have "clear" reasons, I can sometimes feel what is wrong :) I had SO MANY problems with my old computers and I fixed ALL of them by myself. Excluding 2 times. I had re-written my flash bios with wrong information and another time my power supply was gone. After all these situations, I learnt how to keep my computer safe and secure, and I learnt how to clean the bad stuff out of my pc without reformatting. Reformatting and reinstalling the OS is not a very hard thing to do but keeping your computer secure and safe is harder. Everyone can solve problems by re-installing. but I want to say that I haven't reformatted my current computer for 4 years and it is still working without many problems. There are not many people who can achieve that :)
