Do you think women over fifty should be wearing thongs and bikinis? I had this discussion with my mother and she seem to think it's just fine. Well, no way do I think that's appropriate, she needs to have her stuff all packaged up and nothing hanging out. That's my thought.

If an older woman wanted to wear a thong, as long as it was not showing from above their trousers or skirt, which I believe is the same for younger woman too then why not? Also anybody should be able to wear a bikini and if they have the body for wearing a bikini then I think this is fine too! x

That's what my mother thinks, she's got the figure for it so why not. I say bingo bags are great too for her but she deoesn't think so.

Women over 50 are just getting into their stride! There are plenty of 50+ (I guess) women I see on a beach who are just gorgeous, stretch marks and all and wearing them like honoured battle scars! haha On the other side of the coin there are drear teenagers who would be best not seen in public even in a burka!

Women of all ages should wear whatever they want and feel comfortable in. And if a woman over fifty feel good in a thong or bikini, than she should wear it.

I think it depends on what makes a woman feel comfortable. Times have changed so much, when I was younger (in my teens) I would think 50/60 was really old but now I'm 29 I feel so different, age means nothing and 50 is still young really! People should feel comfortable in what they wear no matter their age! If they have the figure good luck to them, I'm a little overweight and only ever wear a bikini abroad where no one knows me HA HA!

I am 44 and still wear throngs. I wore a bikini on the beach last year as well. When I was younger I did think like you, but I tell you as you get older your view do change, also more impotantly the world's views are changing. Years ago if you wore anything more than a granny's dress at the age of 40 you were regarded as loose! Now women of any age can wear any fashions as fashion doesn't stop in the 30's year group now. If you can get away with wearing what you like and it looks good on you, then wear it. We only live once so make the most of it. Even the larger figure is cathered for in a much wider way than years ago. Years ago if you were overweight then you wore nothing more than a tent! Now fashion is made in larger sizes. The same for preggie clothes, years ago you wore a tent like dress and almost hid that you were having a baby. now fashion is also made for preggie ladies and the bump is always in full show. If your mother is happy, then let her be happy. I would love to meet up with you in a few years time to see if your views have changed at all.... and they will!!

I think what it is ....is that she's my mother and you want to keep a certainimage in you head of her. Maybe my views will definately change in a few years, once I'm in that position.

Being over fifty doesn't mean she has one foot in the grave. I don't care what anyone wears under their pants, it's not like I'm gonna see it....lol. I think it is funny that we make these standards about how older people should act. We are still human beings as we age. Older bodies get older, we become more experienced, but I think deep down we stay the same person with the same wants and needs as when are younger. If it makes her feel good, all the more power to her.

It is just society and how it has forced how to think about the elderly, not that mom is elderly dhe does everything a 40 yr old would and maybe better. You want to think of her all proper wearing her sensible shoes and all.

If your mom, at 50+, still has the body to wear a bikini, and she wants to, then she should! Do you think it's inappropriate for all women over 50, or just your mom? Kids are funny that way. If it embarasses you, then don't go to the beach with her....

Swimmers should wear dresses with which they are comfortable. If they swim well with the dresses there is no problem.
