You could get two then they can keep each other company while your not home. Thats why i have 3 cats.

I agree with you. you are not over reacting. why adopt a dog when you hardly see it, or spend time with it. If someone adopted me, and never spent any time with me, i would feel very depressed, as the owner could have left me at the center for some better owner to take care of me.

It depends. I do think it's cruel to get a dog and just leave him/her at home for 8+ hours a day, especially if it's a puppy or young adult that cannot possibly hold it for that long. Even adult dogs should be taken out every 4-5 hrs. But if getting an adult dog that is used to being alone and arranging a dogwalker or doggie daycare so the dog won't have to be alone for more than 4 hours it's perfectly fine to have a dog while working. Most people have to work anyway, and there are ways to make a dog more comfortable being alone. I work full-time as well, but my dog only has to be alone for about two hours a day. The rest of the time he gets to be with my parents.

I guess it depends on your dogs needs and everything. If you have a working dog, that dog needs a lot of exercise. Most dogs do. If you can meet the dogs needs, and have time to give your dog attention, then sure. If you are working two jobs, and working most of the day, then it is probably not the best idea, and I would suggest waiting until your life slows down and evens out before even thinking about owning a dog.

If you own a house I recommend you put them out when your at work. Get a lil dog house for weather reasons but yeah...they do need to be cared of every few hours. So if you live in a Apartment you might want to think of things you can change or maybe finding a sitter. I don't know every little detail to really be telling you how things should be. Its all up to you and if you are having doubts then your most likely right.

i think dogs also have their own character. if he likes living lonely, then it is ok to lock him in the house. but most dogs still like playing with others. so, if you love dogs enough, maybe you could buy one more dog. after the two dogs know each other, they will play together. and maybe they can bring you more little dogs, haha!

I think so. A dog needs someone to stay with it and play with it. So that it will be happy. It is just like a human being, nobody wants to stay at home and being lonely. It is just like to be a prisoner because this dog can't go anywhere.
