How long does it take for your eyes to get used to contacts?

I got contacts yesterday. I have never worn contacts before. I have been using dime store reading glasses for about two years in order to read. Now that I have the contacts, my vision is still a little blurred. Is this normal? Are my eyes just getting used to them or what?

No, I have never had blurred vision from contacts. I would go right back to the optometrist and have them checked. There should be no charge for the check. I wore contact lenses for over 30 years and they always worked exactly right immediately unless something was wrong with the lenses.

She is on vacation until Friday the 13th. I already have an appointment with her for that day. Maybe she just got the distance site wrong. I can read really well now, but my distance vision is really blurry. She gave me two pairs of lenses. One is a pair of mono? lenses and the other is a pair of bifocal lenses. I went home with the mono lenses on and today I have on the bifocals. I like the bifocal ones much better. Too bad they are the most expensive ones!

The bifocal contact lenses I have not yet tried, because when I got my first pair of rimless progressive eyeglasses that was about the same time we started spending a lot of time in the desert where it is windy and dusty on a regular enough basis to be a little hard on contact lens wearing. Besides, these new glasses are so small and lightweight that I'm ok with them in a non-work environment. So when we retired I gradually weaned myself off from wearing the contacts.

As you started this discussion 3 months ago, I am sure you now are used to them. If not then you have a problem with your contacts. I wore contact lenses for about 25 years and glasses before and after. I can't wear contacts anymore because my eyes can't take them anymore. I get infections after just wearing them for an hour. I got new ones and the same thing. My eyes get infected and then I get puss in them and on the contacts and then I can't see so I would have to take them out, clean them, and put them back in. I would be good for about half an hour and I would have to clean them again. So I just don't wear them anymore and hopefully will be getting my eyes lasered within the next couple months.
