Do you feed all your cats at the same time?

When do you feed your cats? Do you feed all your cats at the same time? Do they all get the same food, cats and kittens?
My cats don't like eating together, so I have to feed them at different times. The kitten likes to eat everyone's food, so if I served them dinner all at once, only one of the cats would get to eat.
Sometimes my female cat, EB, will ask for food around midnight and most times that's because the kitten has eaten her food. She's really smart. She waits until the kitten goes to sleep or naps and then asks for food.
How do you make sure all your cats get enough food? Do you use seperate bowls for each cat?

I have around 7 cats. The momma cat had kittens and we kept them all.Sometimes, I think my heart is too big.
I find them all at the same time. I don't really have a choice.Once they hear the bag open, or can they come running .
They will share from 2 plates and two bowls. They dont seem to mind either.

Our kitten Little Buddy is the same way. She will be sleeping in the laundry room and refuse to come out. But, when I open the bag, she scampers out to get her portion of food and everyone elses, too!

Hi beautyqueen26,
My family used to have some cats when we lived on a farm, and each afternoon someone would take the cat food up to the back of the yard where the cats liked to have their dinner.
It was always the funniest thing to watch - the cats would be running around the person, meowing with their tails in the air, but every few yards they'd stop and take a few swipes at each other before continuing to shadow the butler with excited meows.
It must have been all the excitement, I guess.
Anyway, they were quite happy and contented once they each got their separate little dishes to chow down into.
Apparently food is one of the key pleasures in a cat's life - down on the farm, anyway.

Your comments made me smile! That is how my cats are. They make me smile too. I'm a cat mom, could you tell?

I have separate bowls for my two kids, one in the kitchen and one in the dining room but they eat out of each other's dishes all the time. It drives me crazy because I'm trying to keep track of how much I'm feeding them because they're both overweight, especially my little girl, Sissy, who's a tiny little kitty so it's not good for her to be so fat. My 30 pound boy, Squirt, is always eating out of Sissy's dish, even if his is full. He's like a little kid who just knows his sister is getting something better, when it comes out of the same bag and they see me give it to them!

I feed my cats dry food in the morning and a can of wet food at 3:45 pm. They are used to the routine and will come to tell me it's time for dinner if I am late for the canned food. They have separate dishes, but will not hesitate to change bowls especially the canned food. My female won't eat in the same room as the male because she is scared of her own shadow. She has been neurotic since she was a kitten. But the male will eat anywhere and if he sees her food is not gone yet he will finish hers too. lol.

We do feed our two cats at the same time. They will not eat together but they get plenty so one will stand back untill the other is done. They usually have food in the bowl all day so no fears of not getting eonough. And if they feel they havent gotten enough they will let us know

I feed all of my cats first thing every morning. To make things easier, I clean their dishes the night before. Then all I have to do is plop some canned food in each dish. Columbus and Waffles get their breakfast first, followed by Mimi and finally Maxie. Basically, they eat at the same time, but not together, except for Columbus and Waffles.
Mimi eats in the spare room, while Maxie eats behind the garbage bag. That way, Columbus can't see him. Usually, Columbus is too hungry to go after Maxie anyway.

I feed my cats at the same time. They both get their own can of food in the morning and then I keep dry food out all day long. They have to eat out of the same bowl for the dry food, but each gets their own bowl of the canned food. They don't ever seem to fight over the food.

hi beautyqueen26,
I have 4 cats (1 missing at the moment)but in the morning, I have 2 cats, PeeWee and Charlie they like the food out of the pouch. Kitty, will only eat dry, unless I run out of food and I have to open a can of tuna, than everyone is there to eat. Kitty eat all day long. Peewee and Charlie eat early in the morning and in the afternoon, other than that, they all eat dry food. And as for all cats getting enough, I always live a plate full of dry food. And the only time I seperate their plates is in the morning. It's funny because Kitty could have a plate full of dry food, but she will come and ask me for more, even if it's a handful.

I have two kitttens they will be going on 6 months they are sisters. I leave them dry food out all day so they can eat that at anytime and then in the evenings I give them some canned cat food they eat off the same plate at the same time.

I do not have any cats now, but I used to have 3 and I would feed them all at the same time. It was a bit of a performance but they all had their own bowls and they knew whose was whose.
They were not really that bad, if one cat left food the others would not eat it, if I saw their bowl was empty I just used to put a few biscuits in for them. Kittens can be greedy though and will eat everything in sight, my cats were all different ages and so when we had a new kitten I just used to feed him at the same time as the others but put him far away from the other cats and make sure he was fed last to give the other cats time to eat.
When he was finished I would then keep him away until the other cats had finished it does not take long for them to learn once they are shown the order of things.

My cat and kitten have dried food out 24/7. They have a bowl each but they do eat from each others bowls.
When it comes to feeding them in the evening we feed the cat in the dining room and the kitten in the kitchen. We don't close the doors. We used to feed them in the same room but the kitten used to upset the cat by trying to eat out of his bowl, so we started feeding the kitten in the kitchen. We did start closing the door, but now they know where there food is we don't bother as they don't upset each other. We leave the food down for about 30 mins to 45 mins. If the cats have not eaten all there food they do go and eat out of each others bowls which we allowed. We then lift the dishes, throw away any uneaten food and wash the dishes

I do feed all three at the same time although i can see your point cos my kitten is the biggest pig out of them all.
I give them a feed in the morning, then again in the eve but if one or more arnt around in the evening i save the food for that on and give to him later. i am in the process of trying to train the kitten to leave the other alone but hey! hes a stubborn kitty
