Do you prefer to hang your clothes outside or use the dryer when doing laundry?
Myself? In the summertime I love to hang my laundry outside on the line to dry because for one, it saves on our hydro bill and energy, plus I love the smell of outside fresh after I bring the laundry inside from hanging out in the sun and the air.
During the winter I have no choice but to use my dryer for obvious reasons.

I will hang anything outside that I will normally iron but sheets etc I will put in the dryer as I just dont have time to iron them from the line.
but we have a dryer so I can keep up with the washing when its raining which its doing a lot at the moment

Like you I have no choice but to use the dryer in the winter since attempting to dry on the line outside would be entertaining but pointless due to the snow and cold LOL..In the summer thoguh I love to dry the wash out on the line!

I perfer to use the dryer I hate leaving outside which is what we do with our bathing suits and wet clothes when we go swimming. The reason is I always end up forgetting about them one time my shirt got ruined because of the rain when I left it outside to dry one time. So thats why I pretty much perfer the dryer plus it does a better job.

I hang my clothes outside to dry and I don't wring them to get rid of excess water. I just hang and let nature take care of the rest.

My family lives on the second floor of an apartment building.Since there is space constraint we have some clotheslines inside and a couple outside the verandah. We always use the Washing Machine to wash as well as dry the clothes. But then we also hang it on the clotheslines as it is still slightly wet.

When my hubby and I first moved here we noticed that they didn't have any clotheslines so we bought some wire for it and made our own. The previous people who rented this house said that because of the gravel road it caused their clothes to become very dusty. Since we've hung our clothes outside, I haven't noticed this to be a problem at all. I just love the outdoor scent on my clothes after I'm done doing laundry.

I prefer using the dryer because I think the clothes tend to fill rough and scratchy when they dry outside.

I prefer to use my dryer, it is just a lot faster and more efficient then hang drying. Not to mention hang drying is way out dated.

hello nixxi76,
i love to hang clothes outside for the same reason you have, unfortunately we are living in an apartment at the moment at hanging clothes at the porch is strictly prohibited so i just used our dryer. we do have the energy saving one and the newest technology so it is helpful for us to save and not waste money and energy at the same time.
im looking forward to have such experience again hopefully next year when we can finally afford to have our own.

I have a friend that stays in an apartment and she uses a folding wood cloths rack and leaves it by the window and opens the window so she still gets that fresh smell in her clothes.
I hope you do find a home with a yard and a clothesline one of these days and good luck with that

good morning!
yeah, i have seen those to other apartments but not here i do laundry twice a month so we have so much to hang if that is the case so it wont be advisable coz it will surely fill up the whole apartment LOL
i am really hoping to find the best home for us, i miss hanging clothes and planting at the garden so it will be wonderful to have them again.
thanks for the warm wishes.

Sometimes, we use the dryer but often times, we hang our clothes outside especially when it is really sunny outside. Cheers!

I've never hung my clothes outside before so I guess i'll have to say using a dryer. We've hung sheets outside but never our clothing and I'm not fully sure why. Maybe I'll try doing it one of these days!!!

I prefer to use the dryer. We've never hung our clothes outside on a line to dry. I know that it saves a lot of energy but I just don't like how clothes dry sometimes when you hang them on a line or hang them up to dry in general. I guess that's just me though. I'll let some things air dry if I have the space to hang them, but it's usually a bra or two and they dry pretty quickly and don't dry with a strange texture.

Well in the spring and summer I would prefer to hang my clothes outside, but I do not have a clothesline. I could get one of those hanger umbrella things but I am on a budget. I therefore have to use the dryer. It is all right in the winter and when it is raining, but our dryer is stuck besides the freezer, because my husband is fixing up the basement and because he had a slight stroke he can no longer do it until he gets better.

I'm sorry about your husband and I hope his health gets better so he can finish up what he started. I wanted to buy one of those hanger umbrella clotheslines as well but I'm on a budget and they can run quite pricey. My hubby and I just spent maybe $20.00 and got a wire and tacked it to trees that were the perfect length from each other.

I am with you. I like the smell of outdoor dried sheets. But, typically I use the dryer. We don't have a line outside, so I don't hang anything.

I rarely get the chance to hang my washing outside. Our building has rule, you can't hang laundry outside to dry (a bit stuck up I think) but outside are living room windows and main door we have a private decked area. When it has been sunny which is rare, i've hung bedding and towels out. I usually just leave things to dry hung up in the front room. I don't have the heating on in the living room or kitchen just the bathroom so it takes days to dry. If i'm desperate for something to dry for the next day I can leave it on the radiator in the bathroom but only really for clothing. We do have a tumble dryer but that is only used on desperate occasions.

Wow I can't believe that you're not suppose to hang laundry outside! That's not fair
You should invest in a clothesrack so after you wash your things, you could hang them on it and put it by an opened window.
Or....
Just bring your laundry over here and do it hehehe I have a clothesline you could borrow for the day!

Thanks for the reminder! When I was a little kid we hung all our clothes on the line. I have not done that in so long. We have been looking for ways to save on my electric bill, and this will be a great way this summer to save! Thanks again!

You're quite welcome!
We live out in the country and there are some good trees to set up a clothesline instead of spending $80.00 - $100.00 on an umbrella type line so that's what we did.
Our old place had a finished basement and I would hang my clothes on the pipes because they were very stable. Our backyard was a parking lot and the front yard was shared with others as it was a row townhouse in the shape of a U.
In the winter I was still able to hang my clothes in the basement so it was great. I would use the dryer for towels and sheets as there was limited space for that.
Thanks for your comment and enjoy your fresh smelling clothes once you start hanging them outside again
