I want to make a confession....Was I very naughty or not? You decide.

On holiday (yet again!) I did something naughty. I have not been naughty for years and trust me way back when, I was a really naughty girl.
Anyway on holiday we went for a drink one evening and they were short staffed behind the bar, but instead of them working a bit faster they were so slow, they just took their own sweet time. Behind me in the queue the folks were getting restless and were starting to get a bit irate. Not that it made the staff move any quicker, it was bad really because it was half term and they would know that they would be busy so they should have been covered. One bar staff serving is not enough for the volume of holidaymakers that they had. They did have a young man behind there too, but he just seemed to be flouncing up and down looking busy and just kept walking in and out from behind the bar.
When it came to my turn to be served I gave her my order and as she did the drinks my hubby came in and took them away to where we were sitting outside. Now if she was a good barmaid she would have had the order memorized, or tilled it in as she went along. I used to do bar work and I always made sure I tilled a big order in as I went along, why? Well because when it came to totalling the drinks up she could not remember what we had had and so had to ask me.
I did not tell her all of the drinks and so got 2 for free.
OK so that is my confession, so I ask you, was it very naughty of me or not?
Or can I call it compensation for having to wait for so long for a drink?
Have you ever done anything lately that was a little bit naughty?

I could have dropped more off, but did not want to push my luck.
Can you imagine how embarrassed my kids would be if their mum got them thrown off the caravan park!

meh.. you already know that you lied and subsequently stole because of the lie.. so yeah, you was "naughty". if you felt the need for compensation for bad service.. idve left no tip.. or here in the states, an "insult tip" for bad service is a single penny turned face down on the table. you also couldve complained to the manager and possibly had yer entire order comped to make up for the bad service and not-so-fun time youd had there.

Oh yes I did lie didn't I? I forgot about that, and I always say that I never lie You are right I could have done it another way, but I do not normally do things like that, I think it was just a moment of weakness.

It doesn't sound too naughty to me.
I guess she should have kept track of
your order better.
Busy hour is always that way. It's hard
to keep track. I'm glad you got something
for your trouble!
So, I'm happy for you!
Be well.
Have a blessed and beautiful Saturday.

No you are right it was not naughty, she should have had the order in her head. I worked behind a bar for years and I never lost any of an order because of people taking it away from the bar. It was either tilled in as I went along or I memorised it, then that way no one can do it.

Hi GeminiRose, I hope you had a really lovely holiday. I had an enforced one from myLot due to computer problems but back online this evening. YIPPEE.......... I would have actually been very NAUGHTY and pulled the pint myself from the other side of the bar, so well done you, fair compensation I thinks. In answer to your question though in have I done anything naughty lately. Absolutely NOT!!! LOL. Ellie:D

Probably it is a little bit naughty, but sometimes such bar staff needs it this way.
Once it happened to me that I was out on a summer evening for some ice cream with a girl friend. It took the staff very long to prepare what we ordered and I already was thinking about leaving the place. But finally we got our order. As we ate our ice cream and also had some coffee I asked the waitress for the bill. She was talking to some friends, sitting at the bar and answered me to wait just a moment. This happend about three or four times. While we waited up to 20 or 25 minutes she didn't even move her a$$. So I just left the place and drove home. Obviously she didn't want my money.
Anoher time I was for dinner with a colleague in a Thai restaurant which is situated in a 5 star hotel. We ordered some food. After about 20 minutes we asked the first time about our order. After 30 minutes the second time. And after 40 minutes the third time. I was so upset, that I took my mobile and called a pizza service ordering the pizza straight away to the restaurant.

I do not blame you for walking out, that is just bad manners and they deserved to loose the money.
I cannot believe you ordered a pizza to a restaurant that is really funny.

To me, that's stealing. I'm sorry to say it but it's true. Forget that they were busy and short staffed, you lied and didn't pay for what you ordered. There's no excuse for dishonesty...it saddens me to think that people believe they are somehow entitled to lie and cheat. What happened to your conscience that tells you right from wrong? It's obvious yours is damaged because you don't seem to realise what you did is wrong.
You posted that this is a confession, so you need to atone. I don't know how you can do so.

Whoa!Bit harsh or what! It was a drink, I did not go out and murder anyone, and technically it was not stealing she should have known what drinks she poured.
Although everyones opinion is valuable to me,I respect each and every one including yours. I feel that just lately people take things way too serious and their comments reflect this in the way that they really go all out to be horrible in their comments. I am not just on about you but a few others as well.
I am sorry but I do not need to atone, yes it was a confession but not as in a real one it was a bit of fun pure and simple. I feel no guilt over it, if that makes me damaged and a thief then that is what I am and as I have told many others in my life, I have no conscience.

It's naughty when we talk about honesty but if we will look at the positive side of that naughtiness, it will give her a lesson to be more committed in her work, sincere and dedicated..LOL, She deserves it for me!LOL! For some customers, for sure, she has been insulted already! I remember one time when I had m pants to be fixed and the lady was telling me to come back after 3 days. So I did, knowing she didn't started it yet, since she was older a lot than me, I consider it, she promised again after 2 days, Only to find out, it was not ready again. I really shouted at her and told her that my time is precious and going back and forth in the place is expensive for me, I was really irritated. My sister calm me down and I never go back there to get it, it was my mom who did it for me!

I agree! Most relationships are being saved sometimes by white lies! But, what you did, will give her a lesson once she will be asked to pay her short during her duty!

I'm sure they had a sign that said if you're not served in a timely fashion you get two drinks free, you just didn't see it..No but on a serious note, that was a wee bit naughty, i can't fault you though because i may have done the same thing.
While i do have my naughty moments,i've been a good girl for awhile now.. can't promise it'll stay that way for long though.

Good morning Rose..well dont beat yourself up about that one,im perfectly sure the place wont come to a standstill because of it...and im sure you can live with your guilt!!lolol...I saw the post and read the heading and I thought Ey up,whats Rosie been up to here...I imagined crime at its height!!...at least equalling the Great train robbery!!!....but no just a little `mishap`....!!...and im afraid I had a similar one recently..I went into the nursery to buy some plants..the girls on the till were clueless...and althiught they were lovley ,young and beautiful..clueless they were!!...Well they rang all of my plants in throught the till...which took two of them to do it mind you....then they told me the sum to pay...I offered my money and nonchalantly strolled out of the shop...but under the plants was three packets of seed....and while they were laughing and giggling they failed to charge for them!!...so I felt no guilt...I just popped them into the boot of the car and off I went....

Hey ruby I could make a few more confessions but I would probably make your hair curl! You are right it is only a mild thing to do, very mild for me these days. I am now a mild child instead of a wild child!
I think that the majority of us have done things like that and there is not a lot of harm in it. Well as long as we don't get caught!

i would say compensation for having to wait too long and for them being disorganized and short staffed. i am sure if they were that busy they won't miss whatever they charge for 2 drinks. cheers!

Thank you, with what they charged for the caravan in the first place, and what they charged for drinks, they definately will not miss it.

hi gemini.
sounded like you had a blast. good for you. as for your naughty deed, i would have done the same. i mean, it's the bar's responsibility to keep its customers happy and satisfied with the service that their providing. i think the small misdeed that you did was good enough to teach the bar a lesson.
i've done the same to bars and restaurants who give real bad service. its either i make sure that i get discounts or i get items for free or removed from my tab. we pay for good service and if it's not coming my way, i'd make sure i have one by hook or by crook.
cheers!!!

well it was naughty but so what it is done now, I walked out without paying once, because the woman went to everyone except me and then ignored me and my lunch break was over so I just left.

just a little naughty but again I think it just
compensation for having to wait that long for
a drink. she should have been a bit more business
like to begin with. not having to ask her customers
what they had had, that she should have been on
top of to begin with. so that is not the customer's
fault in any way. once when I went to my favorite
restaurant and waited and waited for my dinner, when it'
finally did come it was cold. I complained and she had
it reheated but she seemed angry and banged my order
down so that the food was all messed up. okay so I got the
bill and I complained to the manager. he said I apoligize
for the rudeness of the waitress, how much was it? I answered
with about one third less than the real price, and he charged
me just half of that. so I sort of got a bigger break than
I should have.lol

You are all making feel that maybe I was not so naughty after all! I think it is bad for a place when their staff are like that, I have come across it a few times.

Ah, yeah. And another thing. Probably I will remember even more if I just think about it.
Not so long ago we went to buy a walker for our little daughter. We had a look at various walkers they offered. Finally we decided for one which looked the most saftest but also comfortable with some nice toys for her to play. Also it was the most expensive of these walkers in this children shop.
As we came to the cashier it happend the same as it happens so often. The computer didn't recognize the barcode and the staff was to lazy to look for the price. So she asked me: Do you know the price of it?
Sure that I made a 15% discount for myself.
@gemini_rose (16264)
•
3 Jun 08
that was a very kind thing you did for yourself! But if they do not want us to have these discounts then they would not ask us the price of things or what we had!

With the world as it is today everything is so damn expensive, including gas and rising food prices. Its only human to take what you can get. I think that what you did is justifiable. she should have been paying more attention or she should have been smarter about calculating the tab.
@LovesTravel (303)

Well, it was a bit naughty, but with some justification. At any rate, as Winterose said, it's done now. It was the business of the bar or pub or whatever to look after the tab. If they had to ask you, they were not doing their business properly.
