Why? Just why?

Last year our family dog died. She was a mutt but we loved her and she was definitely one of us. Well she was also my da's dog. She always tryed to go everywhere he went and enjoyed just being around him. When she passed he decided to get another dog. A Chihuahua to be exact. He was a family friend's dog but they had too many so da decided to adopt him. And personally I really dislike him. He's not the brightest dog ever. Or old dog was pretty smart really. Knew when things were wrong and pretty much was there to comfort you. This dog is just a mouthy nusiance. Have you had a loyal family pet pass that just amazing to you and when you finally decide to replace them you find the new dog just isn't up to standards? What bothered you most about the new pet?
