Dear Sinus Infection,

It has been several months now and you are driving me crazy. I've been to the doctor and gone on amoxicillin and you still refuse to go away and let my sinuses live in peace. I am very tired of the aching between my eyes and the blood in my nose. This is your last chance or I shall remove you by force! xoxo, pixelpixie Anyone else had a sinus infection that wouldn't bugger off? What made it eventually go? I suppose I'd better wander back to the doctor and motion desperately at my nose again.

Hi pixelpixie, You know, you probably don't need to shovel money into the doctor's bank account to fix your sinus problem. (And it sounds like the doctor hasn't solved the problem anyway). Have you tried a nasal wash? That's not all that hard to do, you just get clean, warm water and run it into one nostril, and it goes in and flushes out your sinus cavities and comes out the other nostril. There's actually little teapot-looking thingies that you can get which are designed specifically for this. If you have a persistent allergy which is causing your sinuses to become inflamed, then you might like to consult a competent naturopath who might be able to help you. Aside from those two thoughts, you could also try eating some really hot curries or Mexican foods - or even just drink some Ceyenne Pepper mixed nto a glass of warm water - to encourage the sinuses to clean themselves out. And all of these approaches will likely go a long way to resolving whatever might be giving you problems - as opposed to just masking the symptoms, which is mostly what pharmaceutical remedies seem to do.

Hi again, I almost forgot, if your sinuses are inflamed because of an allergy like hayfever or something similar, then the best way I know of to reduce the symptoms is to suck on a block of ice. That really does make a world of difference and stops any itching or tendency to sneeze, and even slows down a runny nose. Doesn't have to be ice - anything frozen will do the trick, and failing that, something nice and cold. But ice blocks are easy to make, and they last a fair while too. But try to avoid drinking milk or milk products - they'll just exacerbate the problem!

I don't drink cow milk. Just soy milk...that wouldn't have a negative effect would it?

Hi pixelpixie, my hubby was suffering from sinus infection from quite a long period of time.we tried many things but not very helpful. he tried the vapourizer which have menthol and eucalyptus, then medicated vapor rubs . some time it was effective to use but not always.i think water is essential at all times. drinking water through out the day and mostly before bed seems to keep your sinuses in check and clear throughout the night into the early morning. some alternative sinus remedies include the following :- eucalyptus oil , rosemary and lemongrass (natural oils). i think that anything that you can slurp that is hot and spicy or that contains garlic and pepper etc. is usually very effective in the draining of sinuses.try it sometime. you'll be surprised that how fast you have to run and get some tissues.... LOL... ;-)

At this moment I have a ear infection caused by my sinus. I would definately want it to go but it is still here. I am on some meds hoping and praying that by the end of the week it will go away. I hope that yours becomes well soon.
