The Chinese used to grow carp in ponds hundreds of years ago. During some of the breeding some of the fish mutated into less brassy color into more yellow. The people in power use to keep these fish in clay bowls and only the wealthy could have any of these more brightly colored fish. As these fish were breed together, better colors come out until now we have a fish that is actually a different species from what it was in the wild, almost like the dogs which are not the same species as their ancestors.
