Stories like this are not new but this is the first time I ever experienced seeing one. A girl just 2 people away from my seat inside a jeepney was busy texting. The jeepney was at halt because of the traffic jam. Suddenly, somebody from outside just snatched the cellphone from her and loud scream followed and the girl hurriedly went down to chase the snatcher.... Was she able to catch the culprint??? I would not know because the jeepney driver has to drive away from the scene as the traffic started flowing. If you were the girl, will you do the same thing? Chase the snatcher???

I have seen so many instances like that... and I for one had experienced being a victim of it... not by snatching my phone though but rather slashing my backpack as I am going off the jeepney in about just 3 steps... VOILA! The phone disappeared already in just a split second with two slashes on my bag. I tried to follow jeepney where the culprit might still be boarding on... but to no avail... they were GONE. So I guess, if I was the girl, I would not waste my time running after them... but I might SCREAM LOUD for help from the bystanders who might be able to trip off the snatcher while running... I saw one time a scenario like that... wherein a concern bystander was able to help a lady just by tripping the snatcher that passed by him. Excellent way of PUTTING the culprit into custody of the police. Lucky GIRL! Good citizen there.

If a man like you could be victimized that way and felt so helpless, how much more a woman. But you are right, screaming aloud in a way could help because there might be some concern people around or police who could be a hero in that particular time.

If I could be a hero for somebody else... I would definitely take that opportunity NO MATTER what! That's my dream actually...to be able to help anybody by any means... So if the snatcher would be running towards where I stand... I will quickly put my right or left foot forward for that bad guy to trip over it. :)

for me i'll just ignore it. i will tell you a story, one time when my aunt, my cousin & i went to divisoria, i think it was just 2 weeks ago, we're just sitting inside the jeepney, & of course there was a traffic jam, then suddenly someone from the outside of the jeepney stole my cousin's earring with less than 5 secs! can you imagine how fast is that! have you seen XXX documentary about the "pitas" gang in divisoria & QC? if you have watched it then you're aware of it, i just teased my cousin & told her that "hey, i saw you on tv ha!" lol anywayz, back to your topic, as i have said earlier, it's dangerous to chase those assh0les, coz it's really not worthy to risk your own life with just a thousand of pesos, i can replace my phone with a new one, but my life is irreplaceable

Oh jinxky my dear your back here at mylot. Ha!ha!ha! I'm so glad and even more because you have displayed your lovely photo in your Avatar! How nice! Well dear, Divisoria is haven for snatchers and oh they are really so fast so we should really not wear anything attractive to their eyes. I'm happy your cousin did not have to suffer bloody ears. Indded it is very dangerous to run after them. It's better not to take the risk. What is one cellphone as compared to our precious life. Have a nice day!

She must have learned her lesson now maam. She should not do texting or calling while on a jeepney. Snatchers are all around now because life these days are hard and they do that for survival. What a very bad way to survive.

Yes dear, she learned her lesson the hard way. She should had been very cautious but instead she displayed her beautiful cellphone and was texting as if she was inside her bedroom. The snatcher spotted her and there goes her cellphone. Poor girl!

Thats actually a very common scene here in the Philippines. Public places are nowhere close to safe nowadays especially that holiday season is nearing and they would be more likely to take advantage of people who are crowding in areas. I think it would be better to just let the snatcher go, you might just be placing your life in danger if you would still be running after your phone. I guess people sometimes have to learn their lesson the hard way. We already know that public places are not very safe to show your phones and especially in jeepneys. And the worst thay i have heard even is earnings are even being snatched off a girls ear in jeepneys, the snatcher would just leave running after snatching leaving the girls ear bleeding. I think that is the worst i have seen in the tv news. I hope these people really get caught.

My goodness that is so terrible. Philippines is not a very safe place I should say so it is not good to display your assets around if you don't wanna get victimized by these heartless snatchers!

I won't do that. I am very sure that the snatcher has many companions. It is too risky. It was her all fault why she was texting inside the jeepney. Snatching is very rampant nowadays. Good day!

Risky yes! As you said snatchers always have back up and running after him might just cost your life. We've heard so many unfortunate events related to this and of course we do not want to risk our life just for a cellphone. We can always just secure our life and replace our cellphone later. Let's just let the snatcher suffer in hell in due time.

nope. it's too dangerous to be chasing those people. you don't know if they have companions. it's more practical to leave a statement to the cops and let them take care of it. it's just a phone, you can always buy a new one. but if you get stabbed or shot just by pursuing the culpirt, then it would be a greater loss.
