Welcome to your new virus, trojan etc. Your redistry values have been changed by the sounds of it. Never just open a downloaded exe file always scan it first and make sure you have a trojan detector working. I use Search and Destroy and it is suprising to see how many times I have to deny a change to the registry.
If IE is still not working get Firefox and try to be more careful.

hey erratic and gratz to reaching 100 disscusions. yeah i do scan them but this one didnt show up on my norton scan which is wierd. but i suppose norton isnt really that good

I don't know how good Norton is but I do know it slows PCs down heaps. Now I don't know either if this is the best but I use AVG free with Spybot Search and Destroy.
It's a bit like STDs mate: If ya gonna go with hoes (limewire) ya gotta have ya protections.

hello poke sam94,
well i too had that kind of problem and i called on of my friends to solve the matter. he told me that it was due to a virus and then i formatted my c drive and after that the problem went away....i feel that the same may have happened to you.

what do you mean that you formatted your c drive. i know what the drve is but what do u mean by formating

hello buddy,
sorry for i got late to respond....
well by formatting i meant that i had to format my hard disc and reinstall windows ..... that was the only solution that i got for the problem... i tried all kinds of anti viruses, malware, spyware removers and a lot of other things ..... i lost a lot of time in that and then there was no solutions ..... so i reinstalled windows and got that problem solved.
