I have been having trouble falling asleep for years. Once I fall asleep I'm usually fine, but it can sometimes take me up to two hours to fall asleep. I was wondering if anyone has any tips to help me fall asleep? I have taken sleeping medication, and I don't like to take it. I have driven while I have taken sleeping medication, so I really want to stay away from them. I am open to any suggestions that you may have.

If I couldn’t fall asleep I don’t lie in the bed anymore. I get up and try to swing my hands standing facing the open window. I stretch out both my hands to the front at the shoulder level and then let either hand falling down relaxing to the back. Then it will bound back to the original position again. Let the other hand falling down when the former falling to the back. Keep on doing this until 500 to 700 times or so, then stop and walk relaxingly to the front, to the back, to the left and to the right about 10 steps respectively. My husband tries to do this whenever he couldn’t fall into sleep and it really works. Hope this could help you, good luck.

Scientifically speasking, it takes most people seven minutes to fall asleep. I used to instruct each muscle group to relax, starting at my toes and working my way up. My mother recites bible verses alphabetically. One day she found herself in the 'h's and realised she hadn't been there in a while. Nowadays, I read until I'm sleepy, then turn off the light. The trick, I believe, is to not allow worry to interfer.

I find that reading relaxes me so I can fall asleep. i get a book that doesn't take a lot of concentration, Then i get real comfy and before I know it I'm ready to fall asleep, Another things that works for me is to concentrate on counting backwards from 100. It seems to calm my mind when I'm thinking about things and my mind is real active.

Try this out. Sleep on your back, close the eyes, concentrate on your left legs thumb finger and count 100. I have tried this out, and it works.

Hi there. I recommend you drink milk before sleeping or maybe read some articles, books or magazine just for you to feel relax before sleeping. Sometimes sleeping is really hard most especially when we are thinking problems. Don't abuse yourself taking medication because if you used to it there's a possible for you to can't rid it from drinking again and again. Don't take a nap in afternoon if you think this would give you a hard time in sleeping at night. Don't take any coffee because it has caffeine that can't able you to sleep even chocolate that makes us more alert and energetic. Have a shower before sleeping so it makes you fresh and will give you a good night sleep. Try to massage you head before sleeping so you can be more relax from the stress you had the whole day.

Listen to classic music. Or take a hot bath before going to bed. You can also light some scented candles.

If I can't sleep, I often listening to a chanting machine with earphones. Voices in low volume, so that it would't hurt your ears. Hope this helps.
