A dog is running at you, full speed ahead...

A few months ago I was walking down the side of the road (there is no sidewalk on my side of the street) and out of the corner of my eye I see a dog bolting in my direction.
My first thought wasn't that it might attack or hurt me, it was OH NO IT MIGHT RUN ON THE ROAD AND GET HURT so I made sure I was blocking the dog's path until the owner could catch up to it. I think maybe it got out the back door.
Anyway, my question or 'discussion point' here is...
What would YOU do? Would you do the same, or would you be more afraid of the animal biting you?
It seems like the whole dog biting thing has become such a huge issue lately.
Am I the only one who is more concerned about the animal?
Maybe I'm just odd ;)

For me it would depend on the size of the dog.
If it was just some little thing, I would definitely try and stop it. But if it was bigger...I might be a little to scared to try and stop it because big dogs do scare me quite a bit (which stems from an incident in my childhood when a big dog attacked me and I was pinned beneath it for about 10 minutes before anyone found me. Was slightly traumatizing).

I am an animal lover and would of been worried , and tried to help the owner out as much as I could .
I sometimes will see a dog on a main high way and there is nothing i can do , but hope .

Yes you are odd, my stalker...lol. I've grabbed dogs before without thinking about it. I was bit by a dog when I was kid, but it wasn't a big deal. It did make a little scared of them for a while, but I got over it. Now I don't think about too much.
I think the reason it's such a big issue nowadays is responsibility or lack thereof. Thirty years ago if you broke into a house and a dog attacked you, "you got what you deserved." Nowadays it's grounds for the burglar to sue the homeowner. And there are some dogs being trained to be more aggressive by owners who do not properly secure their dogs.
Until the start of CNN and other 24/7 news networks we got local news and nightly national news. They weren't streaming news stories from every inch of the USA into our TVs like they do now. Figure that in, the population increase and the fact that cameras are now everywhere to see everything and it becomes hard to judge what really is a huge issue now. Are there more cases or are is it just that every case seems to make the news now?

I would of been worried about the dog and tried to get him. I don't really think about getting attacked. I've never been biten by a dog and I guess I just feel like it won't ever happen.
