I am not sure about that but when the doctor suggested that I am sure that he knows and he is aware of the age of your baby prior to his opinion. Maybe you can discuss that to him and hopefully other members who have that experience will help you give some advice!

I don't think x-rays are good for babies because if we see scientifically then its clear that rays like gamma rays can penetrate even through tissues and bones of a normal adult and x-rays don't penetrate through. But in case of a baby the tissues and bones are very soft and that'sthe reason x-rays also do penetrate through and that's might also be the reason of coughing and vomitting.
And that also if chest x-ray is done than it is more dangerous and x-rays do produce harmful effects if they penetrate through bones or delicate tissues like that of chest.
So my personal recommedation is to avoid having x-rays for babies.
But the rest is ofcourse upto to u and also on the doctors recommedation.

I wouldn't recommend one for no reason, but given the circumstances I think it would be wise. If pneumonia is suspected I would certainly have the X-Rays taken. An X-Ray will tell the doctor if the baby has pneumonia so he can treat her properly. A couple of X-Rays won't hurt her, but not treating her properly could. It can be hard to know what is right sometimes. Sometimes it comes to the lesser of two evils. I hope you both feel better soon.
