My father has acute leukemia

In October of last year my father was diagnosised with acute leukemia. Its been a very difficult process. My dad has been in hospitals all but 3weeks since we found out. Receiving 3 rounds of chemo. They didn't work. My dad went to the doctor last week and they told him he wouldn't make it another month. I'm getting married July 12th. I want my father there, but he has barely enough energy to walk anymore. Am I selfish that I want my father to make it until about the 24th of July so he can be at the wedding and doesn't pass away during my honeymoon? I don't even know what I'd do if my dad died while I was away. I want my dad to make it longer, but if nothing else at least make it to when I can be here with him. I just recently decided to quit my job and be home with him to spend his last days along his side. I feel like this is more important than money. Thankfully I am blessed with a great family and a very understanding boss. Has anyone else been in the position I'm in now? Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the hope. But unless some miracle happens, he isn't going to make it much longer. I'm glad that your dad is doing well!

I've never been in your position, but I'm very sorry to hear of your father's condition. I know I'd be heartbroken, if it were my father, and I can definitely understand wanting him to hang on until my wedding. I'm sure he's reserving his strength and praying that he's able to make it to your wedding, too. I can't imagine anyone thinking you selfish for it, because it is a very important day for you and your father is one of the most important people in your life. I know you don't want to lose your father, and I hope you're able to find some peace when his time finally comes. Congratulations on your wedding, and I'll be thinking of your entire family.

Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to write a message. I feel alittle less selfish now. And thank you for keeping my family in your thoughts or prayers.
