Depends on where you are from, what airline you will be going with etc etc. The best way to find the cheapest tickets is to shop around. I use expedia.ca as I am in Canada I have saved hundreds even thousands of dollars over the years of flying. You can also check on the websites of the actual airline as well as they usually have a website along with cheap tickets. Just remember Tuesdays thru Thursdays are the cheapest seats than Fridays thru Mondays as them being weekends etc.

I read that it was Mon thru Thurs that are cheapest. I found recently though that I could get the same rate leaving on a Friday as on a Thurs, so I think it is just really important to look at the rates for all possible dates before making your decision.
Have you ever considered purchasing a membership with Spirit Airlines? They seem to have a lot of fare sales-(I get the hotwire alerts) I have no idea what their reliability is like or anything though, as I've never used that airline booking option.

As I stated it all depends on where you are from and I have found that the cheapest are the ones that I have listed. Monday being for business people is higher than on a Tuesday to Thursday. Mind you sometimes you can pick up some cheap flights on occasions. I would never get Spirit Airlines as I have never heard of them nor do we have them here.

That's a very good question! I'm not sure I have the right answer, but I prefer Expedia because more often than not they have the best domestic flight rates. But when it comes to international flights, I usually go with wherever I can get the cheapest rate. I haven't compared Travelocity recently, but I did try Priceline (not the name your price, because I don't have a US credit card), hotwire, AA.com and Jetblue and while Jetblue has some similar fares, I wanted to go with Delta to get my miles so I ended up choosing the Expedia option after all.
