Mermaids/Mermen, real or hoax?

I kno the report has been out for a while, but I can't seem to find any news coverage or human activity involving the so-called "Merman" that had washed ashore of Cebu, Phillipines. The pictures, while very realistic, could also have been some materials just thrown together (after all cosmetic surgery and wax sculptures are very much life-like). Here you can see the alleged "Merman" images.
