Hi 22angel22 - I see you posted this discussion quite awhile ago but I thought I'd respond anyway! lol I got my ears pierced when I was probably about 12 or 13 years old... can't remember exactly. My mom & dad allowed my sister & I to get it done. Later on, when I was in college I think, I got them double pierced and again later I got a third one in one ear. I used to wear earrings in all of them for many years. But, lately, I just wear one earring in each ear. I'm 39 now and I think it is more professional. Occasionally I will put them in the others but very rarely. I think it is ok for kids who are teens and able to make their own decision as to whether or not they want earrings to get them. I do not necessarily agree with parents getting earrings put in their kids ears when they are very young, like infant and toddler age. A little older, when the kid can speak up, maybe... but not at such a young age. I feel it should be the person's individual choice once they are older. What do you think about the age thing?

I dont have piercings and I usually dont like piercings unless it is in the ear and I usually prefer a single piercing.I try not to judge a person based on appearance but I usually dont date anyone with too many piercings and that is because of the way I was grown up but I know that many good persons have piercind(and I am sure you are one of these good persons).I say what ever makes you comfortable I am not her eto judge because I may be guilty of many greater sins

Getting pierced feels different for everyone. Some people say it feels awful and some don't feel it at all.
It just depends on your pain tolerence.
Most people don't worry about their piercings getting ripped out. It happens on rare cases and after its healed, the skin should be tough enough to withstand tons of pressure on the jewelry.

Ok, here's something I've always wondered....when someone gets their tongue pierced does it hurt? Isn't that a horrible place for germs to accumulate? Why would anyone do that....at almost 61 years old I could never figure that out. My sons g/f says she always has a problem eating spaghetti...seriously...no joke!!!

Honestly, I hate tongue piercings. I wish I didn't have to do them, but I know if I don't pierce the person in front of me that they will go somewhere else and most likely it won't be done properly. With a tongue you have to place it just right so the person is least likely to break their teeth and rub into their gums. Everyones pain tolerance is different. I have some people who can't even feel the piercing and some people who cry from it. It all depends on the person. Usually girls take the pain from a piercing better than guys. You are correct, the mouth is a horrible place for germs and if the person doesn't take care of their piercing properly then it can cause heart problems. Also, if the person has too long of a barbell in it they will chip teeth and if its left in to long it will rub the top and bottom gums and can cause you're teeth to fall out by killing your gums. You have no idea how many people with nasty teeth come in and want this piercing done and I have to talk to them and say that I refuse to do the piercing unless they sign a form saying they will take care of the piercing. I actually had to give a kid a talk on brushing his teeth! His mom told me he hadn't brushed them in 6 months and she doesn't know when before that. He had promised her that if she allowed him this piercing he would start. I made them go home and have him brush his teeth for 3 weeks before I would do it.
Also, the problem with your sons gf, her barbell is most likely too long. She needs one that is flush with her tongue. She doesn't want to be able to see any barbell when the tongue is in the mouth. Now, I don't know this for sure since I haven't seen it, but I would assume this is the problem. If this even means anything, most people need a 14g 1/2 barbell. Yet most places that sell jewelry only sell 14g 7/8.
I hope I answered your question!
