I was just wondering about that? some people here get so many responses, Can you tell me why, are you popular or what? Do you ask a question that everyone might reply to? Everynow and then I can get good discussions, and why is it that when someones discussion is something very simple people will respond right away?

I wonder if it has to do with how many friends you have. If all of your friends are notified when you start a new discussion then maybe that accounts for a large number of the responses. Just a thought.

It might be that if someone asks a complicated question, it will require a complex answer. This means less surfing time and therefore less pay. Also, they might stay away because they are tired and come online after work. Who knows? Lol Look at other peoples questions, and try and learn to use the same style of writing or something.

I'm not sure. I usually get a good response to all of the discussions that I make too most of the time. I guess there are just certain kinds of discussions that most people look for and those tend to get alot of responses. I usually just post something that interests me at the time and I get lucky to find others with the same interests.

I think that the answer to this varies widely. Yes, some of these people have lots of friends here and they are the kind of friends who will just always respond to their friends discussions. Others have figured out the best way to get more responses, they know that there are many people here who are just looking for anything they can respond to so they play to that crowd occassionally. I also believe that there is a bit of hit or miss that plays into the equation now and then. At the end of the day there seems to be no hard and fast answers to this question that people have been asking for a while. You might try PMing the high producers. I know that many of them do have a strategy and some are willing to share it.

I have no idea about other people. I respond to something if it interests me and don't respond if it doesn't. And sometimes I stay away from controversial topics if I'm not in the mood to get into it.

Thanks for starting this discussion. This question has been on my mind for a long time.I too have noticed some discussions are very simple the moment they post it they get atleast a minimum of 40-50 responses.I really wonder how this is possible.I dont go by the people who post. If a topic interests me I just go ahead and respond.I will keep track of this discussion to see what the others have to say.

i really dont know much about this but it really depends on the quality of your discussion and also on the tags you give to your discussions

I'm not sure how I tend to get a lot of reponses, or a lot of responses in a short amount of time. It just sort of happens. I think I get a lot of responses from some people sometimes, depending on how 'good' my discussion is and then I get very little on ones that I think I've hit the mark on. I guess it just depends on what I'm writing about.

I think you're right, some people really are quite popular here and have probably hundreds if not thousands of very loyal and busy friends! I've been wondering about this myself for the longest time. I now and then also post a discussion where I get a whole bunch of responses and I really don't know why because some others that I had really high hopes for kind of flop. I suppose it could be a combination of things - as I said, some members are very popular and have a big "following" here, much like rock acts have groupies...lol..., some topics just catch people's eyes better than others and sometimes I think it's plain and simple timing which I don't think can really be predicted. A discussion happens to pop up at a time when a ton of members are looking and - BAM! - they get a hundred responses. Annie

Hi Marcia-can't really tell you why people get responses but it could be that they are just increasing their earnings by responding or perhaps have made friends qith the people they respond to-am not sure but would of thought it could be one of them or even because the discussion they respond to is easy enough to answer-am notsure myself your friend littleowl

i see somebody here has a discussion with over 200 responses, that's an amazing amount.i havn't doen such excellent work here. take me as an example,my most popular discussion has 98 responses.it's a simple discussion to which everyone can respond. the title is 'how many televisions do you have in your family?' so simple and universal is key factor for getting more responses to a discussion. another key is more active friends you have, more responses you'll get.i think it's easy to understand.if you have more active friends, once you start a new discussion, you are more likely to be responded to coz your activity can be seen easily on the home page of your friends.

The reason that some discussion gets many responses is because of the topic. If you choose a genreal topic that requires not much thinking then you will see so many ersponses. But if post something philsophical then people won't take time to read the full post.

well, this post of yours were able to get a great number of responses. cool. i think it is on the topic - it has to be a topic where a lot of people can relate to. plus the manner of asking. good day!

I know sometimes people will ask the simplelist question and get lots and lots of responses. You usually do alright Marcie. I don't start many discussions, I just can't think of any and then when I see some of the simple things, I think why didn't I say that. Oh well, I am still here, your still here and we ain't going anyplace. Have a good night Marcie.

I've noticed that I tend to get more responses here when I am more active than I used to be. But, other than that, I don't know why some people get so many more responses than I do. I don't think it has much to do with how many friends that they have because I know, in my case, 2/3 of the people that I have on my friends list do not ever answer any of my discussions. I see people here get over 200 responses to their discussions and they answer most of the people back, too. Their questions don't seem all that different than some of the ones that I start, so I don't know what's the difference.

i am not sure why that is. i guess it depends on the person who is asking. the mood of the people that are on mylot at the time. it's a bunch of different things. i know that i have a bunch of mylot discussion in my email right now that i went through and deleted because most of the topics i just were not interested in. i think because i am so busy today.

While learning about selling and online stores and money making blogs, and the "make a million dollars while you sleep" junk, I learned this...you have to have what people want. Period. Nothing you do will mount to a hill of beans if you don't have what people want or are looking for. Period, end of story. Simple as that. In MyLot case, you just have to start discussions about something alot of people want to talk about or learn about! Often easier said than done, but.....never know what you can do till you try!

This question was for one of my friends here at Mylot because they always get so many responses, at least 200 to 300 responses, I even ask him. I thought he would come to this discussion but he didn't. I just woder how does he do it, and all of his discussion is as simple as they can be. He is from Singapore. I won't say the name.

I also very supress with it that why some of it is very simple but many people will response to it.Once I have two discussions at the same time and one is long the other is short. But an hour late the long one just got ONE response while the short one got 41. I think maybe many of mylotters want to response to the discussion as quickly as they could so that they could response to more and they don't want to spend too much time to read the long one.

I can't agree with you about that one. Yes the short and simple ones will get more replies, but some of the long discussions get replys, they might be simple but you must go into details about it, and people will respond. And it has to be what everyone is interested in.
