What's Worse, Losing Your Wallet With All Your ID, Or Losing Your Keys At Night?

Last night I lost my key chain with all of my keys on it. I couldn't get into my apartment, and I couldn't even get into the building. It was the middle of the night, so I decided that the only thing Icould do was to stay at a motel. It put me back about $80, but I was desparate.
As expensive as hat was, I decided it was better than losing my wallet, because keys could be replaced much more easily than ID, my passport, and other things I had in there.
My mother is coming to town today, with a spare set of keys or me, so money aside, I'll have my keys replaced within the day, a lot less ime than it would take for me to replace all of my ID. Come to think of it, replacing my passport would cost as much as that danged room I got.
If I had a choice between losing my wallet and losing my keys, I'd prefer to lose the keys. How about you?

Yea aint that the truth! I dont look forward to renewing all of our passports but I really should get it done this summer damn it...i need to find someone back home though that has a valid passport too which should be interesting
As for which Id rather lose...My keys for sure! I can always break into my house but to lose our (mine and the kids) passports, Perm.Res cards, birth certs etc etc would not only SUCK but it would also cause a fortune to get them all replaced

Yup! Keys again, huh? In my case I coudln't break in because it was an apartment building, and I live in the basement, literally under ground! LOL I coudln't squeeze ino hat little window if you paid me. My stay at the hotel wasn't that bad.
I carry my passport in my wallet because I'm legally blind, and people are constantly asking me for my DRIVERS LICENE, and I don't have one. A passport was the other most VALID piece of photo ID I could think of, so I'm using that in lieu of a Driver's Licence.

LOL! I don't like also to lose my passport and other ID since I will be thinking of the time I have to devote processing as well as money but if I will be asked to choose, I'd rather lose my keys also than my wallet. It will be hard to move on without any money.

That's the wiser and practical choice indeed! Cheers!

I guess I would rather lose the keys. They can be replaced easier without too much damage. I can get back into my apartment through security but it will take a while to get their help.

I rather lose my keys, than my wallet. If anyone would find you wallet they can use the credit cards, people always card more than on card in their wallet. Having to call all those companies to cancel and making sure that you have cancel all cards. Having a dupicate made is mush easier. So I rather be out 80 dollars and be out of all my cards and ID and passport. Look at it as a small vacation.

I would love to take a small vacation myself. But even when we do, I can't seem to sleep much. I'm so use to sleeping in my own room and bed. Does that happen to you?

It would also be better for me to loose my keys than my wallet. I also have duplicate copies of all my keys so if something happen, I can easily have another duplication to be done. But if my wallet will lose, I don't know what to do. I have in my wallet, my credit cards, ID's, ATM cards, License and others. Never mind the bills in there, it could be earned back...

Definitely keys. When I was in high school, I checked out a couple of dozen books on locksmithing and lock picking :) I'm very good at it. In Arizona, you have to retake all the freaking test (including the eye test...which I can't pass) before they'll reissue a license. Social Security take about 6 months to replace a card. The Credit cards can be canceled in minutes, but a voter's registration takes a month or two.

It would have taken abouit a minute with the right tools. I lost my picking set about 10 years ago, but I know where to get another.

Loosing my Wallet and having to Cancel and replace everything would definately be worse. My husband has a set of keys for our place on him all of the time so unless he also lost his set that is no real big issue there. But when you have a lot of important pertinent information in your Wallet that would cost $$ and take time to replace, that would be a Big issue for sure. I know one time many yrs. ago I had my Wallet stolen so I had to replace quite a few things but nothing like I would have to replace now, and it was no Fun at all.

I wonder if this is why I don't carry a wallet? I fear that I will lose it?? I carry my id and such in my pocket and when I need my checkbook, I will take my purse with me, but it will be locked in the compartment in the car if I am going more than one place. I only carry my license, bank card and insurance card, plus any cash that I have. And the keys aren't a big thing either since I only carry 2 of them and they are on separate rings most of the time AND I have 2 house keys and 3 different car keys. BUT I would rather lose my keys and have to replace them than lose my id's. I was going to replace my driver's license just to have the correst address on it and it cost enough that the woman behind the counter told me that SHE wouldn't even do it if I didn't need it for anything like cashing checks. So I haven't had the proper address on it for a year and a half and I don't renew for another year. I would hate to lose my bank card.......it would probably be the hardest to replace!

Well , I wish niether ever happen to me, or my blood pressure will rise to the celling.
But if I have to take one , I surely will go in for the missing keys. every thou , that is not the savers thing to get missing. if it gets to the hands of someone who know you and have seen u checking into a motel, he can easy clear you belonging out before the next day come.

I'd rather lose my keys too. Losing a wallet causes a lot of hassel. I mean, replacing your i.d(s), license and credit cards would be a real stress. But losing your keys makes you feel a sense of insecurity. What if other people know your keys and where to use it.

Not only replacing the stuff in your wallet. But, think of now a days with Identity thief. One lady said that she lost he purse at the mall and by the time she got home looked up the bank and credit card companies to cancel her cards, they had told her that all her cards where maxed out at over $56,000.00 and she had to deal with it until they could prove that she did not make the purchases. That took them about three weeks and she had no money because all her accounts where frozen. So, ya I would say my keys!

Hi there, it’s sorry to know that you had lost your whole set of keys in the middle of the night and couldn’t get into your house. Anyway you were still lucky that you had sufficient money to get a motel room
If I were given the chance to choose I would like my wallet always with me. I rather prefer to loss my keys as I don’t want to take the trouble, to spend more money and extra time as well to replace my ID, passport and driving license. Before doing this I have to make a report to the police station first.
posting and take care.

keys can be replaced. There is a door in our house that never really gets locked. With 3 german shepherds inside and 2 other dogs... no one in their right mind would break into our house, so I could lose a key and not worry about it.
Wallet, on the other hand.... someone could do MUCH more damage to my life with identity theft than they could just stealing things from my home.

I prefer to lose my keys as well. I have tried that once and what I did was break the door knob itself. I was lucky enough to have borrowed some tools from our neighbor. If you lose all your identification cards, it would take a long time for you to get new ones again.

hi there,
yes i agree with you. for the long terms, losing our wallet with all our ID in it creates much more trouble to us than losing keys.

danishcanadian hi for me losing my keys would be just about as
bad as losing my wallet with all the ids. I live in a gated apartment complex and we have a keyed gate for pedistrians with a very unusual key so it would probably be very hard to replace so I keep my keys in a zipped compartment in my purse so in order to lose my keys I would have to lose mywhole handbag which is
not going to happen as I always carry it over my shoulder so I know where it is at all times.so for me its a toss up as to which would be worse, but again having to replace all my id cards would behell on wheels not to mention my secure horizons card and social security card and phone card and bank atm card so guess keys would be easier.
