Do you miss living with your parents?

June 4, 2008 2:01pm CST
I've only been out from under my parents feet for a year and a half and even though they only live at the other end of the road I deeply miss living with them and seeing them every single day. Does anyone else feel the same way? Or did when they first moved out from home? Don't just say i'm silly, I know that anyway!

YUp.. WIth them worrying about u, the life u are leading and whether are u taking good care of yourself, will make them older in a way ^_^ And also maybe u are looking at them everyday when u are staying with them and thus u dun really noticed the difference and how much they have aged during the years..

It's strange the things you miss. my mum still nags me but I much preferred it when she was nagging me at home. When I still lived at home they seemed younger too now I don't live with them they seem older to me.

am probably one of the few that will say that I didn't miss my parents when I lived away from home, they drove me away to begin with, and I only came back because I was homeless and they didn't want to see me living on the streets. have been back just over a year and they are already driving me away again and as soon as my debts are cleared then I will hit the road all over again

Did you get on better when you weren't living at home or did you just not keep contact? One of my friends has terrible problems with her parents, It seems to be a source of much stress in her life.

I am a college student now and my college is in another city which is far away from my home. I want to live with my parents but I can't. I am missing my family very much.

I never went to university. This was mainly because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, i'm still unsure of what i'd be perfect at. I can't imagine how I would have felt moving away at 18, i'm sure I would have found it very hard.

i think it is lovely that you have such a good relationship with your parents that you do miss them when you are apart. I first left home when i was 16 and was so glad and didnt miss the home environmet. this was due to me having an abusive step father at the time, I did however miss my mother terribly, me and my mother now have a fantastic relationship since she split with my step father and yes i do miss her when i do see her, even for a day.

It's hard to leave someone you love because of a terrible situation. I'm glad for you that you've regained the strong relationship you had with your mother now that the person causing you hurt has left the picture. I hope it remains that way!

Yes you will miss living at your parents home but after the years past by then you will start enjoying yourself. I did miss living at my parents because of my mother, then I started to enjoy myself. Yes cook when you want. Only having one small house to tidy instead of this big house. Yes I really enjoy alot.

I think I was lucky at home. I was allowed to cook when I wanted. I think this was mainly because I'm a vegetarian and my parents were so we ate different meal. I did join them at dinner time to chat with them and have a drink with them. I enjoyed that.

Must be hard when you live so far away from them. I'm lucky to be just down the road from them. Well apart from when they are away.

That happened to my friend except she was a couple of years older. She's never gone back, her mother is a nightmare!

I have to say that I was very happy when I moved away from home. Not that I didn't have a "normal" family, but it was just the fact that you always feel as a child when at home. I have lived by myself since I was 19, and it has been far away from my parents, since I went away for university. I have loved every minute of living alone! Even now, 9 years later when I come home for visits I automatically feel like and is beeing treated as if I was 14 or something. It is not on purpose, it is just the way your parents like to think of you - as their little child! Now I rather have my parents come and visit me, instead of the other way around.

I always thought I was desperate to get out but as I entered my late teens my relationship with them changed. They always treated me like an adult, well most of the time, they act like children some of the time themselves though!

I love my mom with the bottom of my heart and I do see her everyday, but I don't miss living under the same roof. My mother and I have gotten a lot closer since I have moved out, but when we tend to spend too much time together, we get on each others nerves.
