I am not a high roller and have only been to the casino a few times in my life. I have always lost money but it is the atmosphere and excitement in the air that I love.
I would love it if any one can offer me any tips on how to play the slots since I don't know much about it. I plan on playing the quarter slots. Should I stay at one machine? How many lines should I bet? How much money should I put in a machine at once? Should I walk around and observe other players first?
I am taking a bus there which after paying for the bus ($28.00) I will get two $10 tokens for 2 spins on a wheel as soon as I walk in the door. If the numbers I place my tokens on comes up on the spins I can win various amounts of money.
Plus a free all I can eat buffet. So this is the reason for taking the bus.
I plan on only bringing one hundred dollars with me and no ATM card as I don't want to be tempted into taking out more money to gamble with once I am there.
Please any gamblers that go to the casino's I would appreciate any tips or advice from you. Or please feel free to share your own casino experiences here.

Treat it the same as a night out, when you have a night out you will spend money. Only spend as much as you can afford to lose is my motto with any gamble.
How much are you taking, oh yes !! $100. That may only last about 1 hour, but if it does it could be a valuable lesson. You see if you win early days then on other occasions it would be easier to lose control and gamble more than you wanted to because you are thinking that you will soon win it back.

I like to go to Atlantic City every so often, usually with a similar kind of deal, where I buy a bus ticket (or go with a group), and we get most of the money back to gamble with. I also use the same tactic you do, as far as bringing a certain amount of cash, though I will take my debit card with me, so I can still buy food or souveniers, but only gamble with the cash!
I usually only play slot machines. Sometimes I lose, and sometimes I come out ahead. You will win more if you bet the maximum, but you will also go through your $100 very fast on quarter slots that way! Make sure before you hit "bet max" to check how many credits that is. One time I did that and it was 45 credits! Luckily that was on nickel slots. You can do pretty well by betting one on every line, which is sometimes nine or more lines.
If you really want to make sure you come out ahead, or at least leave with some money, cash out after winning, especially if they print out tickets (not sure how Mohegan Sun does it)...then hold on until the cash is gone, and cash in your winning tickets...then go home. lol
Good luck and have fun!

THANKS! maybe I should stick to the nickel slots then with only 100 dollars LOL. I think perhaps I may...But I do not have as much self control as you as to bring my ATM card for souveniers... lol! I would take out cash to gamble.
Yes Mohegan prints out the tickets and that is great advice to hold on to the tickets til I am broke. LOL! Thanks flufflysue!

Hi Miss Johnson. I have played vefore and I only play for fun. I never take more than I need. I also don't make it a habit. You cna play any slots and win.
I have heard people say that they play the nickle games, etc. it's whatever you like. As you said, walk around and observe what is placed most. If people sit at the quarter machines all night, then that may be a telling sign that it is the game of choice.
Whatever you do, just have fun. If you win, have fun and if you lose, have fun.
You have a great day.

I have been to both Mohegan and Foxwoods. I like Mohegan better. The whole inside is decorated in Native American deco. I am hoping I can take pictures there although I have heard the only place allowed for pictures is in the lobbies. They have lot's of live entertainment there almost every night. and famous musicians. But I will be there in the day time so I won't see any entertainment. As a matter of fact Robert Plant is performing there tonight!! thanks arcidy!

I have only been to a casino twice the first time my cousin got married and I was not old enough to play I just walked through to go to our motel room. We stayed at Circus Cirucs. The second time I went with my mom and aunt an uncle I did not have money to gamble so my mom gave me some money to play on. I think I could become addicted to gambling very fast so I am glad there are no casinos close to me.

Yes LOL it can be very addicting. I know many high rollers personally. One is an Uncle of mine but he can afford to lose. And another friend I know lost his house and everything due to gambling. It's sad... That is why I am only taking 100 dollars and no ATM card.... Thanks luvstochat!

Thank YOU! graceandowen! If i do win I'll probably end up moving on to the craps table or black jack table with my winnings. Those games I do know how to play but I just can't afford the ante at the tables. LOL!

I have been to the Mohegan Sun and it's a fun place with good food and entertainment...And one of the fine staff can show you how to play the slots...
If your budget is $100.00, follow the ten percent rule. If a machine doesn't pay off well after you spend $10.00 in it move on, or stop playing for a while to cool down-- Slot playing can be really fun but it's addictive, fast and hypnotic! :)

I am not much of a gambler but I have been to a casino boat a few times to gmable before. I never did win much of anything though. One time I was on a win streak though but my husband was out of money and started dipping into my cup and before I knew it, we was out of money to gamble with. I have not been back since because of that. I hate to lose money. We only took enough that we were prepared to lose but we never win and that just sucks, LOL.

I play the slots in Vegas every year. In fact just made our reservations for Labor Day week.
The only thing I can tell you is that the house always has the advantage. Your best chance of winning is to approach your chosen machine with a very positive attitude. Feel it (don't fake it) in your bones that you are going to win. No hesitation when hitting the button or pulling the handle...know it's a win and is just for your enjoyment. If you feel intimidated or have a "I am going to lose this one" feeling, you will probably lose.
The wheel, by the way, is the biggest sucker bet in the casino. Sometimes it pays off, but 99% of the time it does not. As long as it's free give it shot, but don't invest a lot of your own money on it.
Also, I find it best to play the max on slots per pull. That is usually 3 coins on quarter or dollar machines. The payout is better when you do hit. There are experts who will tell you it is not necessary, but they are playing with a lot more than $100 a day.
Good luck to you. I hope you hit it big!

I live in casino city reno nevada I don't gamble much but when I do I play the penny machine it seems to last longer. I have played for hours on $20.00 and brought home $300.00 in winnings not always but most of the time. I use to walk around and wait for a machine that felt right I play it and after a few plays if I hit nothing I move to another. I have however found two games that no matter where I play in a casino or grocery store they always pay maybe not $100's but at least break even, I play Ghost Island or Unicorn I have stuck with those two for years and have never gone wrong... Good luck to you I hope you win big if not I hope you break even....

hi i play poker when i go to the casinos. but sometimes when i loose i go to the slot machines. the thing is that you wont win lots of money in a casino by just playing with $100 specially in the slot machines you have to spend money to make money. once i was sitting next to a guy that had put around $300 in a slot machine and he won $400 by betting $100 so if you bet $1 you probably have the chance to win $4-3-2-or maybe even ten dollars or you might loose it all, the point again is to win big you have to bet big and also do some loorking wich is looking at people that have been in a machine for a while and havent won anything when they leave sit in that machine and you will have a higher chance at wining.and try not to spend too much time in the casino because the more time you spend in there the more money you will loose so if you have $100 try and bet it as fast as you can. Hope that helps .
